Please advise on this stone. Sorry but he has no asset. The cost to trade would equal the cost of a recut. But I’m going down to a 2.05 and up to an H color with a score
Of 1.2 on hca.

Did it look eye-clean to you? What about the clouds, did them impact the light return? There is a lot of inclusions on the plot and additional clouds not shown. This plot gives me pause unless it was good to your eyes.

This stone's proportions are pretty good for a 60/60 style (I'd rather see the crown closer to 34, but with GIA rounding it may be closer!). It would get an AGS Excellent/Ideal. But, you really can't tell a lot about 60/60 stones just by the numbers. You really need to see an IS or ASET.

I would really really recommend you buy your own ASET and IS and look at both stones through that. Post pics and we can help. It takes a bit of fiddling, but there are threads here on how to use one.

Side note: where are those bands from? I love them @nala

.

On my screen, the only difference is of color. You must be seeing more.

Thanks for your input! The stone looked eye clean to me. Gonna order the tools!

Nala...why are you obsessing over this? No one has ever asked to see the credentials of any ring I wear. Enjoy the stone.

I kind of like the newer alternative, it is clearly whiter and it looks to be a lovely stone. It is also awesome that to have such a willing local jeweler! However, I do agree with others to order an ASET first and go from there!

"Clouds not shown" could interfere with light return.

Lol. I appreciate your sincerity. The truth is, that given that I had to compromise when we bought it, I’ve never been at 100 percent. But like another poster said, maybe I never will be unless I hit the lottery. Lol.

Yes. My jeweler is discouraging me bc he says that he knows me and that I will not be happy with the new size. He says he wil source some bigger stones but at a greater cost. I’m not surprised by the cost and i typically spend that amount annually in bling, so this may also be an option.

@nala, you should just upgrade to a bigger size and not go down in size haha. Don't buy new bling for a couple of years and it will even out!

Would it be worth asking WF or another vendor or your jeweller if they would buy your stone off you? Then, you can buy from WF or HPD and get the advantage of their trade-ups in the future.

So I've been reading up on this and it sounds like clouds are only a problem if the the clarity grade is given for them or if they are listed first in the key. Am I right?

I doubt this will work out in my favor. I think I'll take a huge loss and tbh, I'm not really considering the 3 carat mark. Quite frankly, I'm a little upset at hubby for calling me a size whore and for my jeweler insisting that I am one. I like the 2 carat mark--it already turns plenty of heads, especially Bc I love my halos! I'm definitely not the solitaire type, so I don't need the extra finger coverage. I actually am really drawn to this one Bc of the color jump and the attractive price, coupled with the better HCA score.

Smart way of looking at the big picture and being realistic. Hope he pulls some good ones for you! You will feel much better about searching when you have your ASET in hand. See if you can hunt down some AGS 000 and forward those to him to see if he can access them.

Thank you. I guess we posted at the same time. Bc I'm leaning towards thus one. Lol

The actual size difference is only 0.1mm in diameter, which is really not much. Just based on pics I prefer the whiter color and brighter look of the new option, but your stone still seems nice! What is the actual price difference?

Possibly. But it could also mean that the plot is already marked up with the "grade-setting inclusions" that there wasn't enough room to also plot the clouds. It is, after all, an SI2 stone.

Did you look at it through a loupe?

$2000. Whereas sourcing a new stone for an upgrade would start at 7000 and we are not talking about the 3 carat mark.

Yes. I looped it. I guess that I'm accustomed to my Si2 by now that I'm not put off by the inclusions. But will definitely ask about the clouds and focus on the inclusions today.

A recut is cheaper. It’s $350 per carat so you will be looking at about $770 plus shipping, plus a new certificate..call it around 1k.

Brian Gavin said 450 per carat So 990. Plus shipping-- which scares me-- and the cost of Certificate at 169 and the cost of insurance that will cover a recut. Plus dealing with the unexpected terrifies me.

Don’t be offended, own it girl!:appl:

Lol. I think that what I've been trying to get across to him is that I want to do it right this time. And the color difference is really jumping out at me and I wouldn't mind losing .10 mm in diameter for a better cut and color.
I want to add that my jeweler is not requiring that I spend a certain percentage--like one half or double what I spent Bc he happens to have this diamond in stock. If he sources for me, I have a feeling the starting point of 7000 might quickly escalate to a lot more.
