Hi Everyone :wavey:

This forum has taught me a lot but there is still a lot for me to learn. Apologies for my lack of diamond jargon and knowledge.

I am in the market for a round diamond just under the 2 carat mark. This is for an engagement ring (mine!!) and is such a big and emotionally charged purchase I would love some outside perspective from some fellow PS'ers. My 18,000 budget allows for an H color SI1 triple excellent with no florescence. I am interested in AGS and GIA diamonds only.

I am leaning towards the two following stones. One is from James Allen (although I've seen it around on other websites) and Ritani. I had a virtual gemolocial appt with Ritani and was told the (out of house) stone seems to be eye clean but couldn't guarantee since she hasn't seen the stone in person.

My concerns are if the stones are priced fairly and if you think the stones are eye clean. I want to make sure the stone is eye clean with an excellent cut so it has the most brilliance as possible.

Any suggestions and advice is much appreciated!

Thank you in advance!!

Hello and welcome! I bought a 2ct H/SI1 RB last fall. I can tell you from my experience that some SI stones around that size are not eye-clean.Ask a gemologist at JA if the stone is eye-clean. Make sure that you tell him/her what your definition of "eye-clean" (ex. no visible inclusion from 8 inches away).

Thank you, Sakuracherry!

I didn't realize the size (1.8+) could effect whether or not an SI stone will look eye clean but it makes perfect sense!

The Ritani gemologists have been helpful thus far but since they don't have the stones in house they cannot tell me.

It's definitely a tough call for me but I am leaning towards the 1.91 from Ritani. I have put a hold on it for a "free in-store viewing".

Thanks again!!
