Hi everyone and happy new year!
I just wanted to share some pictures of the latest addition to my collection.
1.01 ct. unheated ruby from Mogok, Burma. AGL certified. see scan below.
Color: true vivid red with medium-dark tone. Extreme fluorescence under UV artificial light and strong in natural daylight. Never blacks out, always looks red.
Cut: no windows or extinction whatsoever, very high brilliance for a ruby.
Clarity: rutile silk cloud running under the table, noticeable under magnification but not so much at arm’s distance. The color is so saturated that the cloud does not detract from the beauty. Apart from that, loupe-clean crystal.
Pictures taken today, indoor with natural daylight only (approx. 3 meters away from the window).
A very nice match to my other unheated ruby from Mong Hsu (also 1.01, unheated and AGL certified), which is slightly lighter in tone and - believe it or not - even more fluorescent. Can’t decide which one I like most!
Mozambique ruby coming soon
Happy Sunday!
