So I need your expert opinion and especially those that are well versed in Victorian antique.

I’m looking at a Victorian padlock bracelet on eBay and found one reasonably priced. Seller described it in good condition with “respectable wear?”

There is west and what appeared to be tarnish on the lock itself. Is this something that we can buff out?

Thanks

is this your piece you mentioned on the spooky thread ?

i found an old ring in mum's junk box
it was so tarnished i thought it was brass, very tarnished brass

Not a Victorian antique but old and unloved and neglected and unworn for a very very long time

just with a silver cloth turned out it was rose gold with a 9K stamp

so i would hope yes

why cant the vendor do this ?
give it a gentle buff with a cloth
its hardly like its a desirable patina the way it is (well IMHO)

but what is west?
is that a typo ? (im the Queen of typos)

West is just my typo and I actually forgot what it was suppose to be haha.

I ended up not getting that piece but this one instead. Just hope it isn’t haunted.

It can tarnish bc the gold content is so low - I love the one you bought! Please share pics when you get it!

I love it too! I just happen to be eyeing the LT one when I decided to look on Etsy. I am just lucky as that seller just listed the bracelet. It check every boxes, chunky, heavy 18g, in great condition, and ship from the US! I am trying to avoid paying custom although there are just too many delicious pieces from UK sellers.

It’s coming tomorrow! ah!
