Hi all,

Look at the specs of one of the stone i saw this week.
H SI1 .89 evaluated buy an independant appraiser (no GIA)
crown 35 degrees
Pavilion 45%
Total Depth 64.5%
Table 61%
Girdle Thick (for me looking at in under 10x, it looks very thick)
no fluorescence

HCA 4.7, Poor Fire, but for the other params it's at least "good"
Under the jeweller spotlights, the stones looks ok.
First price was 3000US now... it's 2000US...what do you think????

Are you saying that they dropped their price 33% during negotiations with you? I'd be wary--that sounds like a stone they really want to unload. Have you seen it in person?

Hi Tri. The price seems excellent, but the cut is "average" to "below average". It's probably an AGA cut class 3b-4a, which on a scale of Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor would probably fall in the "fair", range.

It's a bit of a deep stone, so the spread will look more like a 0.75 than a 0.89. A deeper pavilion might also create a darker center than some.

Give it a real serious visual inspection, and compare it to several other stones. If it still seems to "talk to you", then purchase it only with a right of return after having it checked by an independent appraiser.

You might consider buying a smaller stone with better dimensions for around the same money. Then you would have a "no apology" diamond.

Hi Richard,

I agree with you. The stone diameter is 6.0 mm, way too small
for a properly cut 89 pointer. I looked at it under 10x.
For the Clarity it's an SI1. But for the brillancy of the stone,
I can't tell, cause i've looked at it under spotlights....
I've tried to looked at it while blocking the spotlights with my hand,
it was looking ok...but who knows under natural light?????????

But I prefer to pass on that stone...

Yes, the price went down by 33% after the jeweller (I know him for
2 years) discovered that I was knowing my stuff)...

Best regards,

Trichrome.
