I found the diamond by accident on the JbEG web site back in September when one of the many enablers on this board posted about something else on the JbEG web site. I love OECs and ovals and just couldn't resist.
Took awhile for me to decide how to set it but finally decided that the JbEG Lisa was what I really wanted, and it gets bonus points for having a subtle illusion head and being a fairly low setting, which I don't normally like. When I got the ring in mid-November, I loved it except for the dark sapphires. They've been replaced with lighter ones and the ring should be in FedEx today so I'll get it Wednesday.
Diamond is EGL-USA G SI1 (my local jeweler agrees with the grading so I'm happy it's not several grades off) .79 ct. It's really deep at 71% so faces up a little small, but I love the culet and high crown. It measures 6.59 x 4.90 x 3.48. The bow tie isn't very visible most of the time. I tend to see more Maltese cross than bow tie when I see anything at all.
Ring is platinum, I was able to use a pair of .07 ct. diamonds from some little stud earrings I inherited from my grandmother as the diamond sidestones.
This will be a RHR or alternate engagement ring, depending on my mood.
My jewelry photography skills stink (not to mention that my hands aren't very pretty) so I'm posting a few of the photos that Grace took.
