7 Stone Band

I''m interested in getting a 0.5 ctw 7 stone diamond band, so I went to one local jewelry store in the Diamond district of Philadelphia. They showed me a ring that I really liked the setting on, but then said they couldn''t tell me at all what the quality of the diamonds was, asside from the fact that they were "good quality," it seemed kind of sketchy to me. Is that common practice not to grade small diamonds in band type rings?
If I pay a little more for a ring at whiteflash or signed peices will it come with some sort of guarentee that the diamonds are what they say they are?

WF uses their signature brand ACA melees which are excellent cut (really high quality) and SP uses F/VVS melees which are also very well cut. I believe someone here posted close up pictures of his wife's eternity band and it even showed gorgeous arrows through his H&A viewer. Melees are so small that they don't come with certs but they do guarantee that the stones are as stated and both companies stand behind their products.
