I would greatly appreciate honest feedback on this diamond as I'm still in the return window. I paid $4750 for the 5.46ct diamond. Light leakage? CVD side effects? Obstruction? Is there something on the market for around that size and price that would be more ideal?

I have videos I'll attach shortly. Thank you for any and all input.

Hello, Seattle Sun!
If it were me, if strongly consider returning this one and start the hunt again...too much CVD graining for my liking and I think there's some pavilion twist happening which is causing increased light leakage under the table area.

The 40.8/35/60 combo can probably work just fine, but there's issues with the material quality and the cut precision, in my opinion.

It's not a bad diamond at all, but I agree with DejaWiz that you can do better both on the CVD crystal and on the cut precision. Perhaps not at this price point, though.

Are you specifically looking for a 60/60?

No, not specifically looking for a 60/60. Although I do appreciate a brighter diamond given that it is an IGL H grade. The price point, carat size and numbers on paper is why I originally chose this diamond. I also love the platinum vatche u113 setting this seller offers.

In my very preliminary research, I am unable to find a hpht, more precisely cut within that price for 5.5cts. In fact, I've found that I need to sacrifice a few carats to even come close to the price I paid or pay a few thousand more above my budget to hit that 5.5ct mark.

I'm not sure I want to give up a still, very beautiful, huge diamond in a setting I adore. It's not museum quality for sure but for normal daily wear, would it still be amazing? Something I'll need to ponder during this return period. It's been raining and cloudy all day so hopefully I'll get a better feel for it in tomorrows forecasted sun.

I'm not a lab diamond expert but I would think the flashes off of a 5.5ct should be bigger than say a 2.5ct. Would it still be a show stopper if I have to sacrifice so much weight?

I have some thinking to do. Thank you for help Kim!

The larger he diamond the more visible cut defects are, very few people look at them in that detail.
However by hanging out here and looking at details pre-sale you become one of he ones that likely would.

Alright then. Thank you all very much. I obviously have no idea where to find these gorgeous stones you're finding. Very happy to be a part of such a lovely community. I'll make a new post for guidance when I receive the funds back. Thanks again!
