Just going off this shot, any clear winners? Losers?

I love the facet pattern and size of the bottom, 2.70. Next would be its neighbour, the 2.59. The rest look like crushed ice so aren't to my taste (plus they look smaller). But I really like that 2.70 antique cushion :love:
 
I shouldnt even answer this because...the picture you have given us just isnt enough to go by.
But...if the 2.36 is facing straight up it looks very mushy under the table. The 2.59 looks interesting.
Love to see more pictures of the 2.7 (looks like an old stone). Would like to see how well it is returning
light.

I know I know. It's not exactly a "fair" question... just received the photo and was anxious to get feedback from you guys. I liked the 2.7 and the 2.59. Just wish the 2.7 (a J) was higher in color and I'm not sure how she will like an open culet. It will be in a halo setting. I'm concerned whiter paves may detract from stone.
 
with this little information I would pick the 2.7 as well.
 
If you get the J, see if you can get the melee/pave matched to the centre stone. Mind you, small stones will pretty much just appear whiter because their light return essentially blends together to be seen as white when they're small like that. There is a thread here on Show Me The Bling that shows warmer coloured stones and should have some haloed examples so you can get an idea of how it could look.
If you're not sure about the open culet, see if you can manage to show her a photo of an antique stone and see if she comments positively or not. I've got a slightly large culet on my OEC. It's a different cut from the one you're considering but it does have the big flashes of light in common with the antique cushion and I have to really look for it in most lighting conditions - it's not like it's a big dead spot in the middle of the stone which it can look like when you take a static photo.
 
I also like the 2.7. My avatar is a K cushion with f/g melee in the halo. There is definitely contrast and the stone is warm but I like the look of it. That said, antique stones tend to appear whiter so best to follow foxinsox advice and see if you can find an antique cushion J or higher in a halo. You can also look to see if you can find an AVC (August Vintage Cushion) in a halo in that thread which should give you approximately the same reference point.

Whats the depth on the 2.7? I'm thinking it may be shallow?
 
I have a J with E-F Melee and you see no contrast, because the stones are single cut. Would that be an option?

Also i LOVE that 2.7!!!
 
Also, are these all around the same price? Have you talked to her about antique vs. modern?
 
It does look to be shallow....that video does not help much. You cant even see into the table.

They are all in similar price range.

These are all within similar price range. We go back and forth with the brilliance of a modern cut and the chunky flashes of an antique.
 
I would want to know more about the 2.59
 
The facet pattern on the 2.7 is very nice! But I'm very confused by the 46.4 depth. I wasn't even aware they cut cushions THAT shallow!

I know! It's totally throwing me off too. Just got to NY to look at it myself. We shall see

Ring has arrived -- it's exactly what I was looking for! Leon Mege really did a great job. Plan to propose over the weekend and will make sure we get better pic. This will have to do for now
