5ct colored diamond help

I’d love some hope from this community and before I go off on a ramble my main questions are, did I pay a good price at 3000$, do we think it’s clarity enhanced, which color grade would you go by, Gia or Stephen hofer? I love it and that’s what matters but how I acquired this was from a jewelry store closing and seeking their gems.

Go by gia and ignore the rest. gia is the authority for a reason. If it were clwrify enhanced GIA wokld have noted it.

I assume the gia inscription can be seen w a loupe, but the setting likely obscures it.

It's cloudy and clarity would be in the I1 range (if it were shown on GIAs report).

If you love it that's what matters. 3k seems almost impossibly low for a 5ct natural diamond, which is why i asked qbput the inscription.

The Stephen hofer doc is honestly useless. It just uses a bunch of buzzwords and gives 0 useful info. Anyone who says something is a "collectors stone" should be taken with an enormous chunk of salt.

I had the ring set myself. Measurements also add up. I’m struggling with value/ resale/ retail/ insurance

Take it to an appraiser and tell them you want an appraisal for insurance purposes (in other words, not bloated because you
dont want to pay any more for insurance than you have to).

IMO it's worth the $3k you paid plus the cost of the setting. My 2 cents. Take it for what it's worth.

Based on the pictures, the stone is "sleepy"...meaning it is a bit dull.....no amount of polishing will make it "shiny"
For that reason, the price seems "fair"

In terms of the paperwork, the ONLY one that matters is GIA.

I think it’s an interesting diamond. I rather like the sort of “sleepiness”, a bit different. The report, other than the GIA one, is a bit over the top word wise but each to their own. I would have happily paid $3,000 for it so I’d call it a good buy. However what really matters is what you think.
As for value, that’s not easily ascertained.
Insurance value is the theoretical amount it would cost to replace, keeping in mind that insurance companies tend to welcome inflated prices as that’s what you pay a premium on.
Valuation for estate purposes is usually the other extreme especially if there are duties or taxes payable.
Actual resale value is what someone else will pay. This can be in an Auction environment where it will depend on who is there on the day but you’ll get your money faster. And don’t forget commission, both for buyer and seller. Using other sales venues usually also involves a cost to the seller and how long it takes depends on a range of factors.
