It all started 5 years ago when I got down on bended knee in Rockafeller Plaza in NYC at Christmas time and purposed to my now wife and asked for her hand in marriage. We really couldn't afford a lot at the time, as we were building our own house and planning out our wedding which we both paid for together. Fast forward to today, and I am proud to say I could buy her the ring of her dreams. I definately wanted to include her in the process, because after all this was all about her! After visiting I think EVERY jewelry store in town, my wife found that she preferred the look of a Radiant stone that was more rectangular in shape the best. We found a ring already set with a center Rectangular Radiant with side trillions that was not her favorite set up; it caused the ring to look too crowded in her opinion. Much to our surprise the Jeweler had the ring sent off and custom made to her wishes at no additonal charge.
I spent countless late nights up on the computer reading about diamonds, the history of diamonds, the 4 C's, GIA vs AGS, etc. I tend to research something so much that it almost takes the fun out of the occasion, but when it came to such a big investment as this was going to be, I wanted to not foget the 5th C... CONFIDENT. I wanted to know that we maximized the beauty of the diamond we had selected for the budget that we had set in place. I have found that when purchasing a diamond, the 'ol saying in life "You get what you pay for" applies to a diamond purchase as well. I hope you find this post fun to read and thank you for sharing in our joy. My wife is so happy and cannot stop smiling!
