5-stone vendor question...

Hi, I got quotes on a size 9, 1.5 ctw 5-stone diamond band in 18k gold from IDJ, WF and BGD. IDJ's quote is so much lower than the others that I feel a bit nervous. Can anyone speak to the quality of IDJ's bench? Will the prongs be blobby or the diamonds subpar? (They are SI stones.) Any thoughts appreciated.

I've never used IDJ but I can say that BGD are spectacular! I ordered a 5 stone trellis 2 design and just got the pictures today. Amazing - I can't wait to see it in person!.
I can say that their customer service is wonderful and the whole process has been seamless.

Hi Unobuck19! I am familiar with BGD and they really are great- they recut a family stone for me and put it in a pendant, and I also got my studs there; all the jewelry is gorgeous and Denise is honestly one of my favorite people. I know they would do a stunning job, but they are SO much more than IDJ and it seems IDJ does good work too... so I'm torn.

One thing is that I do love the trellis design and that is not a stock design at IDJ, and I'm not sure whether or not IDJ would/could do it... anyone know?

Does IDJ's quote specify "PS quality" stones? If not, you may want to check with IDJ to see what the price difference would be...

Hi marymm, yes, they did specify "PS quality" but I'm just not sure whether that means ideal cut or what? There is a bit of a language barrier with the lady I'm emailing with.

I've purchased from both and Ill be sticking with bgd for my future purchases. And I love the trellis setting they offer so it would be an easy pick for me.

I have a u prong from ID Jewelry and I love it.

I would ask them to clarify what the prongs would be like and ask what the return policy is. If they are cheaper and you can examine the ring and return for a full refund, why not go for it?
