Hi everyone,

I posted previously about wanting a 5 stone ring for to wear on my right hand, and had thought about getting it in the u prong setting at Brian Galvin.

I would like a 2 tcw ring, of about .40 pointers each. I initially requested that they look for stones which are F-G in colour, SI1, excellent to ideal cut, and eye clean. I am being told by Brian Gavin that for that size, it would be better to look in the VS2 category, as they do not often receive SI1 stones which are eye clean in that size. This might be over my budget, however. I was hoping to lower the cost somewhat by choosing eye clean SI1 stones - it is really necessary to use those parameters, or should I look into going to another jeweler?

thank you!!!

I actually quite disagree with that statement. I have a 2.1ct SI2 from BGD and it is completely eye-clean. I think what should have been stated is that currently they don’t have much available in the SI1 range in that size. However, I find that the price difference in that size diamonds (40pt) is not that significant based on clarity.

What is your overall budget?

Also, I recall that your ring size was small, have you tried a five stone with 40pt each? Most likely the band will be hanging over your adjacent fingers, but if you are alright with that, then that all that matters!

Thank you for your help!

I have a 4.5 size finger, and haven't tried on a 5 stone with 40pt yet. Will have to do so over the weekend. Initially, I was debating between getting a 1.5 or 2 tcw right, but don't want to have any regrets, and do love my bling, so was leaning towards the 2 tcs.

I am being quoted 8k for the ring, and while my budget is flexible, I was hoping to spend about 5-7k for it. Not sure how realistic this is though!
