My ring was just posted on David Klass’ Instagram page so I wanted to post the reveal on PS forum.
The goal was to reset my 5-stone ring in a durable setting that sits low on the finger in a setting that protects the stones. I am a bezel-lover so that decision was easy. I wanted an open bridge for a couple of reasons; to achieve a flush fit, for ease of cleaning the stones and for the best light return. The earth-mined stones are GIA inscribed and graded, H color, SI1 and rate 1.0-1.2 on the HCA.
The design process took about 3 months because I had an idea what I wanted but it was a completely custom design. The amount of thought that goes into a 3-dimensional design was mind-boggling; taking my design requirements and connect them in a way that incorporated a level of uniqueness. It took extra bench time to hand make each leaf because of the shape, size and milgraining.
Below is the inspiration photo taken from DK’s Instagram page. Included is my original crude hand-drawn design. I wanted the bridge to sit “under” the bezels so the gallery leaves curve into the bridge. I am able to stack bands with the ring and they sit almost flush against the platinum bezels. The leaf motif is very intricate with high polish finish and fine milgraining. The 14kt rose gold band is squared with a brushed finish And milgraining.
Amy at David Klass was very patient through the process. I had a moment of severe anxiety when she sent me a photo of the finished work from her old camera. It distorted some of the areas and I wanted to scrap the entire design. She reassured me, sent me the ring and I was blown away at the quality of workmanship. I haven’t taken the ring off since I received it back.
