Hi my cyber friends

I've learned something about setting and Ideal cut that i want to share with you, especially those who are considering lower colors.

So i have an AGS Ideal I for about 9 months. It's in a Tiffany style 6-prong. The head is more or less like an upside down pyramid only it has 6 sides. You cannot see the culet from the side. My preference had been G for color but I traded that for the size I wanted. I was never bugged by the color as i knew what I was getting but I am conscious of its tint in certain lighting. As i felt the prongs were too thick and 'strong looking' for my taste, i've recently reset it into a Holly inspired 4-double-claw (thank you Phoenix!) with super fine prongs and thin shank. I also asked to set it teeny weeny bit higher so the culet shows. With less metal, I can now see more diamond.

I knew the new setting will give the ring a completely different feel but I had not expect that it would be so different! The result is just incredible  . It's like a different diamond altogether! It is now 2 color higher in ALL lighting. It now faces up super white. It was a true I then, now a G! Another thing. I now understand why these fuzz about Ideal cut because in the right setting, you will notice huge difference in performance. It now sparkles like crazy. Its firey ALL THE TIME! It looks bright even under what i used to consider unflattering lighting! I just can't stop admiring it.

So all in all,i've learned that there's no need to shy away from lower color as long as it is Ideal cut. But I'd make sure the setting allows light in from all angles. Also, 4 prongs will not necessarily make the stone look squarey if the prongs are fine.

Hope this is useful for those who are uncertain about color and cut. And once again, thank you for helping me pick out the diamond, and answering my questions about color, certs, setting etc. :wavey:

Do you have before and after shots?

Ditto. Please share pics. I'd love to see.

I did not take a before pic so can only show you how it now looks next to an F. Lighting is poor and i'm indoor so the pic doesn't accurayely reflect what it looks like in real life but you'd see that it's not much different from the F in halo. I found the F less 'white' since put in a halo.
