Alright, I am narrowing down to these 2 diamonds. They are both heart & arrows cut - AGS certified ideal cut grading.

Does the .53ct appears a lot larger than the .47ct diamond or just slightly that no one even notice. It would save me almost $500 to get the smaller one. Any recommendation.

I''ve heard that prices for .46 to .49ct is in a different class and .50 to .69 is in another class - is that truth. Thanks

I don''t know how significant is the visual difference between .53ct and .47ct diamond. But fyr,

.45=5mm (in diameter)
.50=5.2mm
.55=5.4mm

Two of my diamonds are five points apart (one is a .38 and the other is a .42) and there is a noticable difference. One is ideal cut and the other has a different table spread so the cut IS different, which I''m sure is part of the reason for such diameter variance. I bezel set the .38 and now it looks almost 10 points larger than my .42

The larger the diamond, the less five points will be noticable.

You do save by staying under the .5 mark so if you find a great .47, I''d say get the smaller stone and save $500, especially if you''re on a budget.

Do you have the measurements of the two diamonds?

the .47 is measurements at: 4.99x5.02x3.12 mm

the .52 : 5.16x5.21x3.24 mm

I guess I will stick with the smaller one or find a .49ct.

One less than 50 points, but with 60% depth and thin girdle will make for the size any day. Those proportions would make the last bit of difference. IMO ? a tenth of a milimeter does not show.

I concur with Valeria 100%!
