What would you pick at BGD if you had a $4500 loose diamond budget?? Assuming all his stuff is as beautiful as I''ve heard my only criteria is it be a round and fill a solitaire nicely (size 8.5). I''ve talked to a few vendors and I''m 99% sure BGD is who I will purchase from. As always..Help, comments, suggestions are welcomed.

Depending on what you''re looking for, you might ask about this one...

Ditto. It is most likely eye clean as well, Brian is being very picky about the stones he selects, but perhaps not to your standards, you''d need to look into it.

Or if you would like a higher color, AGS-1040375560001 Brian Gavin H&A 0.901 G SI1 57.2 61.9 $4,648.00 may come within your budget with the 2% PS wire discount and it would not be noticably smaller than the 1ct. But it would be noticably whiter!

They don''t have much else right now for that price, unless you want to spend much less than your budget. If you like either diamond, try to reserve them or it is possible that a lurker will steal it out from under you

That is actually my #1 choice.. As far as size its the largest in my budget. However, there are lots of others that are close in size

I second Ira. You said you are comfortable with a J, just discuss the SI2 with Brian to make sure it is eye clean. Although it probably is since Brian hand picks them himself.

Also you can probably locate a 1 ct. on a size 8 or so in the eye candy folder to get a feel of the finger coverage. What are you thinking in terms of setting and your setting budget?

Reserve!Reserve!Reserve!

Brian''s inventory is going quickly and he told me they probably will not have any additions in their inhouse inventory until after the new year. I started looking for my earrings about 2 weeks ago and someone snatched up one of the diamonds I was looking at for a matching pair. I went with a smaller pair and I am extremely happy, but do wonder about the one that got away.

Tiffany knife edge.. Only with a very reputable vendor would I purchase a J. From what I''ve gathered BGD is just that

Sounds beautiful!

Every single BGD diamond/jewellery piece we''ve seen has been stunning, I''m sure yours will fall right in line

That is a gorgeous setting! Did you consider the G I posted? I only mention it again because it is 3 color grades higher and only .3mm smaller, not to mention an SI1 rather than SI2. But if it is stretching the budget or you prefer a warmer stone, then the J is a great choice.

Something else to consider is to ask Brian to recommend a stone for you.

I sure hope so.. What a journey this has been just to find a vendor that I want to work with. I feel confident that BGD will put a smile on her face

I think I will discuss these avenues with BGD again. They did kindly remind me that there isnt much size diff. Its just kind of hard to stretch the budget for a smaller diamond?? Although I do understand the +/-''s of both

Does your intended have any type of preferences about color or clarity?

Ditto! Things are going to get a bit busy with Holiday engagements so folks - if you have a diamond you are seriously interested in reserve it to prevent lurker poaching!!
