Does anyone still think this combo is controversial? I know a while back there was good debate about the 41 degree pav angle but things seem to have quieted down about that as long as it''s matched with the correct crown angle (like 34). Still, I believe it goes against tradition and rubs some the wrong way - is this a correct statement? AGS certainly doesn''t seem to have a problem with rewarding the 0 cut grade to this combo...

Thanks for your thoughts,

Tunis

i love 34/41s when properly cut.

Thanks Strmrdr, for your thoughts...

Do you consider it less ideal than the often given ideal of 40.7/34.5?

heck no

I have one in a pendant and it''s killer!!!

I have one, I freaked out when I bought it for no reason. It is beautiful.
If I recall correctly, the best thing for this combo is to be paired with a long lgf % (80).

Hi Tunis!

I don''t know if you have read this lengthy thread on this topic...But I think the concensus is that opinions and preferences differ as they usually do and it is best to evaluate each diamond on its own desirable visual properties.

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/41-degree-pavillion-angle.65301/

For what its worth, as a consumer I would have no issue with a 41 pav angle if the crown was a good balance for it and I had all the pertinent info on that particular diamond.

Ditto. I own one, and it''s stunning.

Thanks for the link, Lorelei!

Guess I should have done a more thorough search.

But I''m too excited about DIAMONDS!!!!!

Thanks Strmrdr,

So, if I gleaned the correct information from the text (which mostly was above my head) it highlighted the importance of good optical symmetry (should I say good physical symmetry?). Does this not also highlight the importance of helium reports to back up reflector images and the like?

basically averages don''t work to tell if its a good one and you have to have an IS or ASET.
If someone only saw the bad one they might think all 41 pavilions are bad.
Which is not the case.
Properly cut they are among the best and some people prefer their personality.
