The first and most important is a gorgeous solitaire - a 1.09 E SI1, 1/9 representing our anniversary, and we looked long and hard to find a stone with those numbers and perfect dimensions.
Hey there, @Autumn in New England!I'm so pleased with it - the combo is really satisfying. I still wear my Beloved most of all, but this new ring, paired with my 25th anniversary ring, scratches a bunch of different itches - apart from being a beautiful commemorative piece. Hugs to you!
@EllieTO - my parents only had 25 years together before my mother died, so 40 years is more than I had ever hoped for. We were in the car together the other day and I said to him "I'm not sick of you at all! Are you sick of me yet?" And he said "Nope!" - and there we were - 40 years in and still in love. And I'm glad you like the design!
Thank you so much, @LilAlex! I think jewelry is the perfect way to commemorate special events - something unique and beautiful and precious - to commemorate something beyond unique and beautiful and precious. <3
Thank you so much, @Natylad! And - how are you doing these days? I hope your health is wonderful and that you're full of joy and energy! ox
@TruLuv858 - you are dead on the money when you say this is a shift - and a very intentional one at that. I try to keep my pieces balanced between the 2 metal colors so I have full sets of things to go with all sorts of outfits. But in this case, I already had the eternity - from our 25th anniversary - so I wanted this to match. I feel like they're complementary in style, and I wanted something with an ever-so-slightly old world feel. By the way - have I ever told you how much I ADORE your profile photo set??! Lordy - be still my heart!!
Thank you, @cushioncutnut! I really am thrilled with how it turned out...in the end!! Initially, I was sort of just thrashing around in the shallows, trying to get it to where I wanted it to be. But we got there in the end - mostly due to a huge amount of patience by Amy Phillips. I can be a very *not* easy customer on occasion, and I really went at this project saying "This is my 40th anniversary piece - it has to be PERFECT!" That sort of pressure from the get-go doesn't make anything easier!!
So it was 42 years and a few days since I met the love of my life and last year we reached our 40th wedding anniversary. Of all the decisions I've ever made, that was one of the best. It's informed every decision I've made since then and the entire shape and course of my life, and for that, I'm grateful to the most wonderful man in the world - my husband.
We celebrated our special day in a number of ways and, of course, DH included 2 beautiful jewelry pieces for me. The first and most important is a gorgeous solitaire - a 1.09 E SI1, 1/9 representing our anniversary, and we looked long and hard to find a stone with those numbers and perfect dimensions. DH had it set for me in a platinum collet setting with diamond wraps and a special engraving on the inside. The basket is made in the shape of holly leaves, and in the photos I'm wearing it with my Leon Mege eternity, which was part of my DH's 25th anniversary gift to me.
I love this set. It's safe and secure, understated and elegant and beautifully made. Thank you AS ALWAYS to David Klass Jewelry - who let me make this ring, remake it, then remake it again after I simply didn't like my own original design. Their patience is unmatched and their workmanship deeply satisfying for those of us with a picky attitude and demanding standards.
Interestingly - my experience with Leon 15 years ago was equally friendly and without issue, and these 2 rings together represent beauty and longevity - an apt way to describe the central love of my life.
Always yours, Timmy. <3
