This may be a silly "duh" question but I'm honestly not sure of the answer... And I haven't had either setting to be able to judge myself.
Is there a significant difference in the amount of light entering the diamond to cause the open 4 prong setting have more "brighter" situations than a bezel with an open area in the bottom? The same or not really much if a difference?

I have had a same diamond set in prongs (ring), then bezel (pendant) then back to prongs (earring). I feel that the diamond sparkles the most as an earring. I can't explain why it seems to sparkle more on my ear than on my finger when they are both set in prongs. This is merely my perception as it is not a side by side comparison.

I have had both bezel and prongs and IMO my diamond was brighter in the prong set. I went from prong to bezel then back to prongs for that very reason. Hope this helps...

It depends on how well cut your diamond is. A not as well cut diamond needs help from light coming in from the sides.

Thanks! I'm looking at a fancy colored brown, deep yellow brown and thinking about how to set it. At first I was yore adamant about the halo and still do love the look of how blingy it is in the halo but after seeing some examples Enerchi posted in SMYB from their store of bezel or four prong, those two are now solid options. I personally prefer the shade when its in sunlight and has more light than when it's inside so assumed it could make a small difference in the way it's set versus how much light is coming in from the sides. I don't think it's a fantastic cut from the description on the website but a good cut (ill double check when I call them) so want to figure out which setting would be best to take advantage of the diamond.

In the coloured stone section, to do the bezel test, we cover up the pavilion of the stone, either by completely cupping it or using foil to see how that affects the colour and brilliance of the stone. In this case, I think it would be helpful as well.
