4 Prong Setting That Looks Like Tiffany Setting?

Just purchased my emerald cut diamond from JA (thanks gypsy!)

However have a question about setting... I am going to do a 4 prong solitaire setting, looking for the Tiffany look. It seems JA knife edge is too pronounced? Are there better alternatives?

I know Vatche U113 exists, but it's a 6 prong, and people don't seem to like their 4 prong?

Any direction would be appreciated! Thanks!

Problem with the Tiffany setting is the boxy basket. It doesn't allow a flush fit band. At all.

What is your setting budget? There are a lot of nice options out there but I need a budget to work with.

Timeline would be good too.

This setting style is the one I recommend:

They are both cathedral settings with a lovely baskets that let you have a band that sits flush or close.

These particular settings are the most affordable option (probably 700 max in platinum).

If you have a more generous budget, then I'd get a custom solitaire from a good CAD vendor like David Klass, or Brilliantly Engaged, or Brian Gavin or Whiteflash.

The setting is important.

This is what I'd use as inspiration for a custom setting, personally, though I'd ask for the head to be set lower:

I would personally go for the Legato Sleek Line by Whiteflash in platinum. Or the BGD Truth (very similar to the Legato) in platinum.

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/classic-truth-solitaire-platinum-5369p

Both companies can make those two settings for an EC ( see here, with a pave shank: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/what-do-you-think-of-the-ering-i-just-purchased.194668/ )

Personally I like the Truth from BGD better than the Legato. But they are so close that you can go with either.
THAT SAID:
If you have the budget for it, I'd consider doing an art deco style three stone instead of a solitaire like this:
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/engagement-rings/three-stone/emerald-and-baguette-platinum-5449p (although I'd ask them if they can make that basket protrude out less).

Or something like this if the wearer likes feminine settings with vintage accents like milgrain (which would be my first choice):

Oh wow lots to see lol!

Ok so I wasn't aware of this whole boxy vs not as boxy/cathedral thing... So the boxy is how it juts out a lot on the bottom which makes it difficult to add a wedding band I assume?

I actually like both styles, and as far as a wedding band I'm not even sure she will wear one with the ring ever

Budget... Irrelevant sort of. I mean 1250 would be fine if I had to spend that

I liked the artfire, Truth, and legato... Anyway to get those as 2mm in the thicker areas (she's petite with slender fingers). Or am I being nitpicky for no reason?

Timeline is May 5th; when we leave for Thailand! For the fun of the thread I plan on proposing here: https://instagram.com/p/BBTIomItkwi/

Thanks again for making this all possible !!!

Yes with WF and BGD you can request 2mm on Legato and Truth. There might be a slight customization fee. So plan 1500.

Get stone insured through JM before sending for setting. And specify thin sharp claw prongs on the order.

Get quotes from both and pick whoever is cheaper. :wavey:
