Dear Lab Forum,

I first wanted to buy some lab diamonds and have them recut into "ideal cut" diamonds up to Whiteflash or Crafted by Infinity diamonds. But after doing some research I noticed that there are few very nicely cut lab diamonds out there. And then the hassle of recutting seemed less and less appealing.

So now I'm going through some inventory and I won't be able to use an ASET on the stones before and after buying them (as I'm overseas) and the vendor also doesn't over this. So all I have is a video and the certificate to work with. Would this be enough to find my own "ideal cuts"?

For example does this diamond show "ideal cut" performance (according to video and certificate)?

Video: https://images.gemfacts.com/GCALImages/certs/Vision360.html?d=320190507&btn=1

CERT:
It's a 8x certified diamond with the following proportions

Thank you for weighing in!

Yes, it absolutely shows ideal cut performance. I would not hesitate on a GCAL 8x diamond with these proportions.

Thank you for posting these other suggestions! I will give them a look.

And do you think it's okay to have different LGF on a stud pair? Like would one even notice?

What would your opinion be on the 40.6 pavilion angle on this one?

I don't think you would notice different LGF on the ears.

For a ring I usually like to see a higher pavilion angle with a 34 crown, but for earrings it should be totally fine.

I think I'm really overthinking this.

But I can't decide between these options:

Option 1
A)https://www.gcalusa.com/certificate-search.html?certificate_id=320190507
B) https://www.gcalusa.com/certificate-search.html?certificate_id=320090209

Here I'm not sure if the difference in pavillion/ crown angle (40.6/34.0 vs. 40.8/34.5) is too much? I just can't find a partner for the 40.8/34.5 stone and it actually looks a bit darker than the other stone in all the imaging - or am I imagining this? Would these two diamonds even work as a pair?

I had actually thougt to pair Diamond 1A with this diamond:
C)
But the grade setting cloud is not good - or what would you say? I'm scared it will cause haziness - and I can't look at the diamonds in person before the final purchase. The diamond looks dusty in the fire imaging in comparison with the others - I assume it's the affect of the cloud?

Option 2
A) https://www.gcalusa.com/certificate-search.html?certificate_id=320862353
B) https://www.gcalusa.com/certificate-search.html?certificate_id=320090192

they both have (40.6/34.5) angles - but still they look a bit different, what I like is the 56% table.

Which would you pick @Kim N @DejaWiz ?

PS: @Kim N I can't acces the adiamor website :( but I think 1.5ct is almost too big for me (never thought I would say that - but after a cz trial run - I prefer smaller studs for the moment). Thank you so much for taking the time to post them!

I personally prefer Option 2.

I agree with you on the cloud in Diamond C. I wouldn't worry about 1A appearing darker than 1B because that just could be due to the lighting and photography set-up. But I think the proportions of Option 1 aren't as good of a match as Option 2. If you look at the Symmetry images for both, you can see that 1A returns light a bit differently from 1B.

Option 2 are a perfect match in terms of table size, crown/pavilion, and LGF, and the Symmetry images are very similar.

From Option 2 unfortunatley the VVS2 stone sold before I could buy it.

So I'm off to finding a new "mate".

Would the cloud in this stone worry anybody?

No, unlike the other stone with the cloud that you posted above, this one wouldn't worry me at all.
