.33 or .50 side stones?

Hi All,

I''m still working on re-setting my round 1 carat engagement stone into another setting. I''ll be wearing it on my right hand and I''m considering going with black diamonds.

I thought I wanted .33 side stones.....but now I''m not so sure. I may want .50 side stones.

Does anyone have any pictures of a 1 carat round with either size side stones?

hi, Check this thread out, it gives you more info on size. I personally like accent side stones to be on the tad smaller side so I usually would not like anything over .30 so the center shows the size off better, but some like them to be closer in size. its all personal perference.

Ditto everything D&T said. That''s a very helpful image, too! I tend to gravitate to the last one, with the biggest difference in size.

I am currently in Antwerp and do not have access to all of my photos, but I can tell you that the answer to this depends entirely on you and on your tastes.

We have made rings with 1ct centers that have had as large as .75ct sides and as small as .15ct sides. The interesting thing to me is that they ALL looked wonderful. Traditionally it would be either the thirds or the halves, but since you are having the ring made, you get to set the rules.

Is the same true of pear sides for a center round? Is it traditionally halves or thirds each? Or do the proportions change for pears? Thank you!
