Hi Guys and Girls

I have narrowed down three stones and am really struggling to figure out which one is best. I know its a compromise with many factors but the difficulty is understanding what is more important when buying online :/

Diamond 1, 1.6CT:-
Colour G. My concern is the crown angle is very shallow but it does score an IDEAL on the AGS cut chart? Also the ASET looks a bit leaky?

HCA score 1.9
DEPTH61.0%
PAVILION DEPTH44.0%
TABLE58.0%
GIRDLEMEDIUM TO SLIGHTLY THICK
CROWN HEIGHT13.5%
CROWN ANGLE32.5°
PAVILION ANGLE41.2°

Diamond 2, 1.5CT:-
This one appeals to me because it is a Colour F however the table is edging on the large size and scores an EX on the AGS cut chart. Also the hearts view doesn't look very clean. Im not sure what I can comment on the ASET, I'm still learning! This diamond has a good diameter spread for its carat weight

HCA score 1.3
DEPTH58.9%
PAVILION DEPTH43.0%
TABLE60.0%
GIRDLEMEDIUM
CROWN HEIGHT13.0%
CROWN ANGLE33.0°
PAVILION ANGLE40.8°

Diamond 3, 1.51CT:-
Also a Colour F and scores AGS IDEAL cut. However has the lowest HCA score - does the ASET confirm its a good diamond though?

HCA score 2
DEPTH61.2%
PAVILION DEPTH43.0%
TABLE59.0%
GIRDLEMEDIUM TO SLIGHTLY THICK
CROWN HEIGHT14.5%
CROWN ANGLE35.0°
PAVILION ANGLE40.8°

I would really appreciate if you experts could give me some feedback!
Which do you prefer out the above?

Thanks in advance

Out of the three, I would go with number three. However, I don't know why you are limited to just these three stones.

Ideally, you would want to follow these guidelines:

Table 53-58
Depth no more than 62
Crown 34-35
Pavilion 40.6-40.9

Also, run your stones through the HCA under tools at the top of the page looking for stones that score under 2.

Would much prefer something like this - just a tad under 1.5 so you get the price break and a super ideal cut stone:

Yikes, none of them! You're right they are ALL leaky under the table with number 2 being particularly bad.

Stick of AGS Ideal cut or GIA triple excellent always. Cut is the most important factor in getting a well performing stone.

MGR gave you great parameters to use when searching for the stone. And the WF stone she posted will be gorgeous. Look at it's IS and ASET images. That is what you want to see in a well performing diamond.

Good luck!

On ED, usually the rounds with a score of 100 are worth considering. There are several F-G VS with 100 scores.

Better choices:

Hi Thanks for your feedback.

Looking at your first one you linked, the ASET still looks a bit pale? However I agree that the cut proportions are better. Would this be a good buy over the rest of the ones discussed?

Is this any better? https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/R155-RS92JN

The G is not quite as well cut judging from the hearts image, and I am a little more concerned about its clarity. The F VS2 image is just lighter overall due to the photography set up.

Even though this one doesn't have an ASET, it has a great hearts image showing nice cut.

It would be a hard decision for me between the 1.57 F VS2 and the 1.51 F VS1. I like the better clarity, but obviously the 1.57 has a slightly greater diameter. Two nice choices, though.
