3-stone settings... proportion question!

I''m not sure if anyone can help with this, but just thought I''d give it a shot!

We recently purchased a 1.51 Oval center stone for my e-ring, dimensions 8.58 x 6.40... which makes it a "fatter" 1.34 ratio.

The setting I''ve had in mind is very delicate... a thin WG band that tapers into a small RB on either side, set in 2 prongs and a partial-bezel where it meets the band. I know that''s confusing, but I''ve had a hard time finding this setting online since seeing it in a jewelry store. I do know that the RB diamonds were listed as .30 total cw, so .15 each. I liked the look when the jeweler held a 1.5 oval over it in the store... but I''m a little nervous it will end up looking too out of proportion with the larger center stone when set.

Anyone have a 3-stone ring with a similar ratio between center and sidestones? Or amazing photo-shoppers who would be able to give me an idea of how it might look? I''m attaching a similar setting, but in YG with chevrons instead of the partial-bezel. Thanks in advance!

Hi Mustang... it is from www.BarskyDiamonds.com ... a jeweler in Philadelphia. The prices listed on their website are substantially higher than what they quoted me in their store, FYI.

Try going to www.adiamondisforever.com You can go to their "ring designer" and "design" a ring with your center stone and side stones, and check out the sizes and proportions. My BF and I did this when we were trying to figure out the sidestones for my 1.44 round center - and we ended up going with .25 on each side.

I don''t think there is a definate rule on sidestone proportions. I think of smaller sidestones with a larger center stone as being more "accent" diamonds. Sidestones that are larger in relation to the center stone seem more like what I think of as a traditional three stone ring. Both are attractive looks in my opinion, just different. I think that the proportions you have described will be very pretty.

I think it can be personal, meaning what look you want? I had a three stone (emerald cuts) and the side stones were 1/3 the size of the center. I thought it looked great. I think you do not want too big, it can compete with the center, and too small, you might as well go with tapered baguettes...but it may boil down to personal preference versus actual set rules...
