I would like to make a 3 stone ring with a cushion as the centre diamond and trapezoids on the side. I'm keen to add some extra finger coverage with the trapezoids so asked for them to be fat rather than thin.

Here is what I am thinking of purchasing:

Do these proportions look good? Once prongs have been added will there be enough of a graduation between the centre diamond and the trapezoids?

I LOVE trapezoids as well! I'm not sure you can see the tiny milgrain around the bezel set trapezoids & baguettes but I feel like it adds just the right touch of dainty to this setting/ring. Whatever you decide, I think your choice so far is beautiful.

The setting in the link reminds me a little of my own setting. I will say DiamondHoarder, if you’re able to get a handmade setting, it’s really worth it.

Good luck!
Yes, i am thinking of having it handmade in platinum.

I haven't pulled the trigger on the centre or sides yet. I love the way the cushion looks with the steps and the extra crown facets. But I wasn't able to get an ASET on the diamond and I'm a little nervous about the light performance. In the videos (which I cant post here) it seems to have lots of broad reflections of colored light from the pavillion steps and has more brilliance in the crown facets.

There seems not to be much information on PS about these types of cushions and what to expect in terms of light performance.

But every time I look at the photo I posted of it with the traps I keep thinking that this is the one.....

Are you able to return it if you aren't happy with the light performance? I love how unique it looks and am so drawn to unique...I can't tell you how many times people ask to see my ring up close, stare at it, or just tell me outright how pretty it is. It's a square emerald so not exactly common...which makes me feel great.

BTW, I LOVE white cars, it's my favorite color car but...I had a white Mercedes and I didn't realize that half of Texas has white Mercedes and I would see it everywhere so when I sold it and ordered a new car I SO BADLY wanted to order white but resisted because I HATED seeing my care everywhere and this time I ordered a flat non metallic gray! It's called Sting-Gray and I'm so excited and have only seen ONE in my color choice...and that is making me do the happy dance. That's how I feel about our type of stones....yours in particular. Go with your heart.

You are right, there is something special about having something a little unique  Yes I can return it if it doesn't live up to my expectations in person so I should probably just get off the fence and do it

I love your ring by the way, I think square emeralds are really special. They have a bit of an antique vibe and the whole combination with the traps and baguettes is stunning.

Well I love trapezoids  I think the layout looks nice but the traps might overwhelm the center stone a tad, just not sure. Here is a cushion I adore with traps and bullets

I know - I love traps too and have always wanted a 3 stone with traps. I was planning to have a more elongated centre diamond but then I saw this one and it spoke to me. I know that if I had tapered baguettes it would emphasize the centre diamond more. But the centre is 1.15cts and I want to maximize finger coverage so the traps appealed more.

This set of traps are 0.21cts in total which I was surprised about as I thought they would be heavier. If I go much smaller I'm not sure the traps will be noticeable IRL. But its hard to know for sure what will look good once its all set in a ring.

Ok, I see. I had no idea of scale or size when I saw the pic. Yes, the traps being .21 I would keep them that size:)

Thanks. Your ring is beautiful as well. Traps go so nicely with step cuts!
