Hello,

I recently recieved my 1.5ct I/SI1 ACA diamond ring from Whiteflash. I just feel that I need more "diamond". I can''t afford to upgrade to a 2ct diamond right now. I have a budget of around $3,000 to make a ring that is more.

I could add two ACA 40 pointers and have Whiteflash make me a trellis 3 stone ring. This would cost just a little over $3,000.

I''m moving to the Washington DC area next month. I thought I could go to Quest Jewelers and have them make me a custome made bezel Halo ring. I don''t know how much this would cost, but I''m guessing not over $3,000.

Which would make me feel that I have a bigger diamond or "more"? What would you do, 3 stone or custom made halo???

Hmm...this is a tough one since the looks are so different. There are so many lovely examples of halo and three stone style rings.

If you go three stone, do you want to keep your center stone as the star? I like it when the side stones are selected to still let the center stone pop. Have you considered other shapes for the side stones?

A halo would of course make your stone look huge. Would you have pave on the shank too? Quest has made many lovely pave halo style rings so you can''t go wrong there.

i would seriously consider the wf 3stone wprong. it is absolutely stunning.

Yes, I want to keep my 1.5ct as my center stone star.
I''m not sure yet if I would have pave on the shank too.

I wanted a 3 stone to set as flush a possilbe with my wedding band. Whiteflash thought a trellis setting would sit more flush than the W-prong.

Well I bought a 1.77RB from WF and with my fingers I knew I wanted something bigger but couldn''t do it at that moment. I had a halo setting made and it makes is look like it is a little over 2cts. I love it and I am glad I made that decision. The custom setting with all of the other diamonds in it was about the same that you want to spend. GL

gosh, it would be a tough choice. Both styles are just beautiful but very different. have you tried them on in person or something similar?

I like 3-stone, since your middle one is already quite large.

i agree mrrs. they are very different styles. i think trying them on would help make the decision.

Very different. You have a really nice sized center, so honestly both would look stunning. I''d go to a good jeweler with lots of selection (not hard to find in the DC area) and try one of each on.... Halo''s are very ''in'' right now (I''m getting one too), and three stones are a very classic choice. I generally think halo''s are flashier

... so it all depends on what you like.

I''m in Finland right now so there is nowhere to try these kind of rings. I really wanted to decide what I want to do before I leave Finland so that I won''t have to wait a long time for my ring to get done. What seems to be more "Bling" 3 stone or halo?

If you EVER plan to upgrade the stone-size the bezel-halo wouldn''t work anymore. (You could find a colored stone the EXACT same size probably & make a RHR out of it). Three stones MIGHT allow a small upgrade of the center 1.5 to 2.0 -- may or may not, you''d need to check.

There so different look-wise too ... depends on what you want to accomplish!

a halo would add like 3mm. so you''d have like a total of 10.5 mm lengthwise

40 points is like...4.8? times two is 9.6+7.5=17.1 length

both WF and Quest production times are super fast for custom work. I would seriously urge to to wait until you can try them on. I love, love, halo rings but when i tried some on in person, they didn''t flatter my hands at all. if making a decision on pictures alone, there is a very good chance I''d have picked one. Make it a priorty when you first get back to the states to hit a Bailey banks and Biddle or a place that would have both styles in stock. Once you see them on your hand I think the answer will be clear what is right for you. WF takes like 10 days and Quest 2-3 weeks. you''ll still have your ring in record time

Okay... *personally* a micro pave halo says 'bling' to me. Three stone says 'understated elegance.' If bling is your thing the sparkle and shine of a nice halo (like kaleigh's) is still very elegant-- but eye catching, as opposed to the sophisticated look of the three stone. (feel like I'm digging a hole for myself here-- BOTH are elegant and sophisticated. One is jut showy about it, the other isn't as much, IMO). It sounds like you want your ring to be OUT THERE. I've seen the Tiffany Legacy (lucky cousin has one)... and a good friend of mine (who is from 'old money') has a three stone. The three stone, for me, is New England elegance... the halo is NY, LA, PARIS!

I think I'm just babbling now. Long and short of it is... I would definitely take the time to try them on. Pampillion and the Tiny Jewel Box in DC are amazing to visit *swoon* and it won't take moe than three weeks to get what you want.

i would choose a 5 stong ring for more bling. 25 -33- big stone -33 -25 pointers across

i totally understand not wanting to wait, but i would strongly urge you to try on the different styles. there were rings that i just loved online that didn''t look at all like i thought they would on my hand. i would have been very dissapointed if i had purchased a ring that ultimately turned out to be unflattering on my hand.

I have a 3 stone CZ ring that I think looks really nice with my wedding band. It''s this 3 stone cz ring that made me start thinking I would like a 3 stone diamond ring. I can''t remember the sizes of the cz''s, but I think the center stone is 7mm and the side stones are 5mm. My ring size is 6. I don''t know if this matters, but I''m 44 years old and I''ve been married for 24 years.

Here''s a picture of my 3 stone cz ring with my wedding band.

I like the way the three stone looks on you.

Don't know if I'd like the halo as much. Now a three stone halo... Ritani has them. That would be Bling.

Okay... so I went WAY OVER BOARD. But... I was looking for bling... and man did I find it.
