Ive been looking for a cushion cut diamond for the past few months. Finally, I've found 2 diamonds that I really like the most. I'm confused of which one to get and I would like your opinion.

-3.03 Color: D Clarity: IF

OR

-4.02 Color: D Clarity: VS1

Thanks

Hi,
Have you personnally seen both if these stones? The visual is so important with cushion cuts. I like the D IF....if it is cut as nicely as the 4 carater! Cindy

Hi spring and welcome!

Have you seen either of these in person? If online, then images would be very useful if you could get photos and an ASET image to post here. Which lab graded these diamonds, GIA?

Do you have the basic proportions, depth, table, girdle thickness, diameter, amount of pavilion mains and crown height to start off with?

When you say you have been looking for cushions for months, have you done much reading and research on the cut quality of cushions and how to evaluate them?

I''ve seen both of them on pictures and videos. I have done plenty of researches and I have talked to few gemologists. My big concern is the cut. Since the cut is the most important characteristic. Even though the first diamond with D and IF color and clarity but the cut is only Good and it is priced for $114.999. Do you think it is worth the money?

Thank you

can you get aset images of these stones? cushions are so tricky and you just can''t judge them on numbers alone. for the money you are thinking of spending I''d want every possible test run on it that''s available. who''s selling these cushions?

Sorry I price is $103112 and bluenile.com is selling this diamond.

I really think cushions need to be seen in person if possible. bluenile does have a good return policy so if you bought it and had it shipped to a local independent appraiser to look at with you that might be worth a shot.

I would also suggest contacting Mark T at engagmentringsdirect. he is known as the cushion expert around here. he is located in the diamond district in NY. He can and has also sourced many of the same stones that folks find on BN's site and can offer them for even less. He helped crookedrock find her 4 carat cushion:

Thanks for your help. I will contact him and see what He can do for me.

With cushions I really think you need to work with a vendor who will be your "eyes". mark hasa good reputation, I am curious what he will find for you.

I am LOVING the one charmypoo found!

I would not spend over $100 K on a modified cushion. I don''t even need to see the photos etc - it''s just not worth it.

I would not pay the HUGE premium for an IF stone. You are paying double for something you won''t see plus it is not cut well and I can say that just by what is on the cert.

OR

-4.02 Color: D Clarity: VS1

You need to speak to Jon at GOG first and foremost to find the best cut in this size. Mark T at ERD should be another person you should speak to as well. Trying to find well cut cushions on your own by looking at the numbers is just not productive and most vendors don''t have descriminating enough taste for cushions or understand how important cut is.

Thanks
