Spent a lot of time putting this one together!

The center "Gabi" is 1.80 cts, D color, VVS1. The two side "Gabi" pear diamonds are .41cts, E color, VVS2 and .42, D color, and SI1 respectively. Bought back in 2006 but things didnt work out...but I got the ring back! Not sure what to do with it though but sit on it

Any suggestions?

The diamonds were custom set in platinum by Mark Morrell. He does some amazing work. Check out the pics!

If by "sit on it" you mean give it to a future fiance.. that's a NO. :)

I would
1) sell it
or
2) turn it into 3 pendants.. maybe for a mom, sister, aunt..
or
3) sit on it to sell at a later date...

ETA it's very pretty btw!

I''d get rid of it too. I wouldn''t want to be reminded of the past. It''s very pretty though. It''s a shame things didn''t work out.

I think it is a lovely piece! I am not one of those sentimental people.... I wouldn''t care if it was from a prior relationship, I would only care if I didn''t like the style of the ring. You could always trade it in toward something different when/if the time ever comes.

Thanks for the compliments on the ring! I really appreciate everyone''s thoughts on what to do with it.

It was the classic case of soldier deploys/fiance cheats. Unfortunately, fairly common today.

I hate that the ring does remind me of the past, because I really enjoyed learning about the Tolkowsky family along the way. What a great story. And working with an artist like Mark Morrell was so cool!

Where specifically would ya''ll go to unload something high end like this? I went back to the original jeweler with no luck and got some lowball offers from local jewelers. I dont think craigslist or ebay generally would attract a lot of folks who even know what a Gabi is. Thoughts?

I''m sure I saw a ring on mark morrell''s website being sold by it''s previous owner. Have you contacted him to see if there is anything he can do? Other than that I think Pearlmans do consignment. I''m sorry that your engagement didn''t work out.

Sorry to hear things didn''t work out for you. The ring is gorgeous. I like the idea of contacting Mark Morrell first. I know you''ll never get all of your money back but hopefully you will get a decent amount for it.

ditto.

I'm sorry your engagement didn't work out, but the ring is stunning. It's one of my favorites on PS. Do whatever you want with it, you can always trade it in/upgrade when the time is right! :)

I would try Pearlmans or hold onto it for an upgrade.

An upgrade is a good idea. Or what about a local auction house if you have that?

They''re beautiful stones!

Pendants and teardrop earring jackets for your studs?

I like the upgrade idea, too.
