I have narrowed my diamond search down to 3 diamonds. The price difference is very close. Due to geographic hurdles, I will not be able to look at these stones in person. So, I don''t have comparing them up close. The jeweler is reputable and I totally trust them.

I''m trying to decide...
1) which will sparkle most?
2) Will the very slight rectangular shape of DIAMOND 1 be a good thing or bad thing? Will it make the diamond appear larger?
3) is the table difference of 72% vs. 73% visible to the naked eye?

I have been studying Pricescope''s New Fancy Shape Tutorial (great tool!); However, I think it would help to get the opinions of others. The following 3 diamonds are Princess Cut, GIA rated. Which would you choose?

DIAMOND 1
Weight: 1.03 ct
Color: E
Clarity: SI1
Depth: 80.2%
Table 72%
Dimensions: 5.45 x 5.09 x 4.08
Ratio: 1.07
Girdle: very thick to extremely thick
Polish: excellent
Symmetry: very good
Fluorescence: none

DIAMOND 2
Weight: 1.03 ct
Color: E
Clarity:
Depth: 75.1%
Table 72%
Dimensions: 5.56 x 5.46 x 4.1
Ratio: 1.02
Girdle: thin to very thick
Polish: very good
Symmetry: very good
Fluorescence: none

DIAMOND 3
Weight: 1.01 ct
Color: E
Clarity: VS2
Depth: 79.1%
Table 73%
Dimensions: 5.35 x 5.32 4.21
Ratio: 1.01
Girdle: medium to very thick
Polish: very good
Symmetry: very good
Fluorescence: none

BTW, my fiance and I plan to have the diamond mounted in a Ritani Classic Setting w/ a single row of micro pave diamonds on the shank. The matching micro pave wedding band looks stunning with it. It''s important to me that the band and shank fit flush. And of course I really want the diamond to sparkle and look as large as it possible give this carat weight. We have been searching and searching. It''s time to make a decision. Hope you can help us. Thanks very much!!!

forget #1 ...too deep, plus why would you want a rectangular shape princess ?

Hi Bride2be and welcome!

The first and third in particular are much too deep, although depth does not always relate to face up size in fancy shapes, these are an exception and it is likely they will not be very beautiful stones.

If you prefer to work with your jeweller, you could ask if they could source you some AGS0 cut grade Princess, this would narrow the field of well cut stones considerably. Without a great cut you will be forever regretting why the diamond doesn't come alive and sparkle, so its critical that you find a stone with if not top cut quality, great cut quality.

Unless you particularly want D or E colour, I would lower the colour to include F and G perhaps or even H, if the cut is great then you will still have a very white stone, it is of course up to you as colour is a personal preference and thats fine - but it would open up more options for you.

Good point - thank you!

I had always heard that GIA was the preferred diamond grader. I''ll take a look at AGS diamonds. Thanks for your feedback!
