Hi All,

Long time lurker first time posted. I'm like a pedantic shopper and literaly spent 100s of hours on pricescope and JA.
I know need to get an order in asap for Christmas :)
Thought a few extra pair of eyes might help :)

I have put one diamond on hold while finalizing the ring customization but there a small inclusion in the table that I am FREAKING out over.

SPECS

Diamond Budget: $10,500 would prefer sub 10k
Carat: 1.31 - 1.49
Cut, Polish, Sym: Excellent / Ideal
HCA: Using Excellent as filter or AGS 0
Clarity: VS2-S1 (Relatively Eye clean e.g. When her friends look at it they are not like what is that black dot on the table)
Fluro: Faint or None
Vendor: JamesAllen (They have the exact setting my missus wants .. and I like that I can see the diamonds)
JA Heart Preferred: I feel the idealscope and the ags 0 is going to more likely result in a better performing diamond. I understand JA hearts is not perfect hearts.

On hold
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.34-carat-g-color-vs2-clarity-ideal-cut-sku-1917065 : small inclusion in table. Is this going to be eye clean or drive me insane ?

Heart Options
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.31-carat-g-color-si1-clarity-ideal-cut-sku-1925495 : slight grey tinge ?
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.36-carat-g-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-1925287 : grey tinge ? big inclusion at edge. can be covered by prong ?

Other options
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.34-carat-f-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-2210960"""" Best color and clarity but pattern at top looks like a mixed bag.
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.34-carat-g-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-1054496 : Good all round performer at price, clean inclusion probably eye clean
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.34-carat-f-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-2110542 : Small inclusion in table. eye clean ?
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.45-carat-g-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-2206604 : Larger, pattern looks ok, looks eye clean

Thanks Mixprints. That color look more G than H.

Nice diamond .. I'd be worried about the small inclusion under the table but it's probably eye clean

Unfortunately getting the ms from F to G was a struggle. She'll just tell me to drop the cut

This one scores a 1.3. Put it on hold and call and ask if it is eye clean. Get it on hold before a lurker grabs it.You found it. https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.45-carat-g-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-2206604

What is the pavilion angle on the one you have on hold?

Thanks Whitewave. I like this one and it could be a good option.
Pavillion angle for the one on hold is 40.2

All the diamond I have narrowed it down to have a HCA <2 :)

She may not be fully aware of the effects of cut, and the very minimal differences between an F and G.

Have you been to any B&M to see GIA/AGS graded stones together and to compare colour? She may then realise it doesn't matter all that much. A poorly cut to a well cut is what is going to wow people, a G to an F will not wow anyone.

Yes spent some time doing that but there wasn't much range in the stores near me so ended up comparing between different cuts etc.
I think G is going to be a safe bet :)

If you want as big as you can and eyeclean:

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.56-carat-g-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-2236496
(HCA 0.8 )

But this is outside ideal proportions, it will be wide and bright, but at the relative cost of fire (with a shallower crown angle). It is significantly bigger though, probably cheaper somewhat / carat because of fluor (which you would have to make sure isn't impeding on it's transparency).

I like the one you have on hold and the 1.45 in your original post.

I wouldn't be concerned with 'grey twinge' at G colour. The 1.34 G SI1 that is a good performer all around, looks very clean for an SI1 which makes me slightly worry about "clouds not shown" in the comments. You have to be careful regarding diffuse clouds that don't portray well on video, that may give it a less crisp appearance.

Colour is a lot more prominent in cuts other than round. But if she is basing her decision on colour based on that, then it might be worthwhile having another look somewhere else, because it will make a big difference to your budget and variety of choice.

My Asscher is a G by the way and it is completely white. If she is stuck on an F, then you may have to get her an F, but I would sacrifice size over cut in that case. You may have to give her what she wants though and be sure to give it to her within the return period just in case...

Thanks for the responses.

I should clarify. Original she said F but I talked her into G because I want a great cut.

I' m waiting on JA to complete the custom design request. On an earlier request they said they could change the prongs to platinum but now it seems like they cant.

Just ordered the one I had on hold :)

I was assured by a few different people that the 1.34 was going to be eye clean.

Thanks for those that responded. If your interested i can post pics when it arrives
