3 carat plus size F or G

If everything was equal on 2 stone's over 3 carats, would you go with a G to save a 1,000? Or should I stick with a F?

I want to thank everyone, I have learned so much in this forum. Special shout out to Kim N and DejaWiz. If I didn't do well enough on my own, I will ask for help then.
I think I nailed it though because I read so much of your information and learned so much! I'm so excited!!! I have wanted an everyday diamond for a long time and
I will enjoy having a round diamond again too!

@Kim N thank you! I guess I didn't even say that the F is actually over 4 carats. I'm freaking out that it will be too big. My wedding set is a 4 carat emerald cut. I would like something a little bit smaller. So it's more doable for daily wear. Right now I only wear my wedding set when I'm out and about which isn't often. I'm looking forward to wearing this diamond more.

I think it depends on your lifestyle, I always thought the bigger the better, but I personally couldn’t imagine wearing larger than a 3 carat (I’m also a future doctor so it does fit my lifestyle). I purchased a 3 carat, I’m also a size 4.75-5 finger, maybe it looks larger on my finger than someone else’s, but I won’t be going larger. Don’t want to deter you because many people love larger stones, but for everyday, 3 is plenty for me for what it’s worth.

I think 4 carats might be too large if your looking to have a more everyday look. Did you compare the dimensions between your Emerald cut and the new round stones here to see the visual comparison?

I think a 3 carat round is quite large but still wearable for everyday.

@Jax172 thank you for responding. I agree with you! I canceled the 4.08 diamond and went with around a 3.5 carat one. My old diamond was a 3.35 diamond and it never felt too big. I wear a size 7 I feel better about going smaller. I’m thinking it will be ok even with the G color. It’s a G VSI HPHT hearts and arrows.


I do have to say at Dreamstones I started with a 4.01. It was no longer available. They generously offered me 4 other choices that were more money than what I had originally chosen. There customer service was top notch!! I went with a gorgeous 4.08. Realized it was too big and changed my mind again. On top of that they price matched that diamond with another sites lower price.
I felt like the worst customer I’m very fortunate they would still work with me! I highly recommend them!!!

The 4.08 was an E VSI HPHT Hearts and arrows. For just under 3,499. Awesome price, I thought it was anyway. If anyone is looking

I think it will work out. So funny, I went from thinking 2 carats, then that 4.08 was so pretty and a fantastic price. It was a bit hard to turn it away. I think the 3.5 will be a good size for me. If not, I’ll have to try again

I did get the band with the Yoram French cuts. I had David remake the band. It’s beautiful. I need to take pictures! I will try to get some sent to you on Monday. My daughter and I are going away for the weekend.
