I am loving this fire opal ring lately. Center mexican fire opal is 3.9ct, set in platinum. It's a really heavy ring, but pretty comfy. Definitely the best fire opal cabochon I have seen. Fire opal is very stable and should value more IMHO. It's not easy to find good cabochon with such color play and brightness. Body color is also a neon orange, so even without going outside I can still enjoy the neon orange color under no direct light. Besides, the color play is so good even with diffused daylight it plays very well :D

I have, but only in a museum piece. It's very rare to find such a saturated Mexican Fire Opal with such amazing color play. You can usually find them very saturated, but with little to no color play.

GregS, thank you, I love it too!
aca, it does look pretty firery isn't it? Now I get why it is called fire opal :)

theredspinel, thanks, and I am sure someday you will find one.
digdeep, thank you! I'm loving this special opal.
maccers, indeed it's like an orange bomb.
mochiko42,thanks,now you made it even more attractive :)
derbygal, yes, it's very hard to find one with enough color play and body color.
missy, thank you! Orange isn't my thing, but this one has the color that no fanta garnet can replace
elle 71125, I wish I can post a video here, opal really needs to move to show beauty
TL, like you said, very hard to find indeed. Especially if you want it to be a good cabochon not a freeform
Sphene, thanks, the best part is that I don't need to soak it in water right? :)
lovinggems, thank you! I am very happy to own it :)
sapphirecats, thanks! Glad you enjoy it.
kenny, thanks! Glad you enjoy it.

I have the opal bug now (just purchased an Australian jelly opal) and was searching for "Mexican Fire Opal" and came across this thread. OMG, what a beautiful ring! The play of color against the orange is gorgeous. Where did you purchase this ring?
