image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Hi,

I am currently working with BGD to create a three stone anniversary ring. The total carat weight is 3.33 (2.174 H VS2 center, .581 H VS2 side, .571 H VS1 side) and it will be paired with my BGD Dream band. I received the CAD images today and overall am very pleased. I was wondering if anyone could share their thoughts/opinions before I move forward.

ETA: Both rings are in platinum and a size 6+.

Thanks so much!!

Looks great!
It’s hard for me to tell but you might need a spacer if the band’s diamonds are eating at the three stone’s prongs. Otherwise it looks awesome

Since this is custom, can they suck in the wires in the middle trellis closer to the center where they touch the diamonds from your band? This would allow your band to fit more upright. It would shift the diamond rub to the outer two, inner trellis wires.

Looks like you will need a separator ring so that the diamonds in your dream ring dont eat into the plat of your 3 stone.

The 3 stone CAD looks nice to me.

That's going to add a fair amount of width to your set. I strongly recommend a plain spacer - the metal flat will visually disambiguate the adjacent lines of diamond and prevent your set from turning into a swath of sparkle-mush face-up ::)

@yssie - Thanks so much for responding to this thread! Your original Butterflies ring was my inspiration for my new anniversary band! I've adored it for years! Also, so what I'm reading is that sometimes it is possible to have too much bling?! Haha ;)

I am more of a classic/simple type of girl - and I do agree that a 1mm spacer is probably my best option. I've reached out to BGD to see what they think as well...

Some people have been able to get very thin spacers that are taller...they seem to be pretty durable due to their height and also
seem to disappear between the other two rings rather well.

www.eweddingbands.com is a fantastic resource for plain bands - they're very helpful, their rings are die-struck, and their prices are phenomenal!! If you go the plain spacer route I would recommend checking them out.

The one other thing I might mention is that currently the three-stone's shank is straight. Tapering it so that it flares palm-side would make the adjacent spacer and dream band sit more vertically on your finger, if that's something you care about... On the other hand it does add some width palm-side which may not be your preference.

@yssie - Thank you so much for the link! I'll check it out. I also asked BGD if they could make me one.

Also, I didn't think about this - so thank you for your picture as well. I had asked that the width match the Dream band (2.5mm) as my previous engagement ring did not match palm side and it always drove me crazy. (I didn't purchase it from BGD and that diamond is currently being recut and I'll be placing it into a pendant!) Do you remember if your Butterflies setting tapered outward a bit? How about the width?

Thanks again for your help!!

Sounds like matching widths instead of tapering is the right choice for you!

My second Butterflies setting did taper slightly, from ~2.2-2.5mm.

I'm having BGD make me a 1mm platinum spacer - yay! They've been such a pleasure to work with! Can't wait for the finished result!
