Gypsy,

It''s like the unveiling of a HUGE mystery!! I''ve never seen your picture before so this is a rare treat. I love the makeup. the hair looks great too. I would be *tempted* to try the other hairdo just to see how you look in it (unless you''ve posted pictures of it before that I have missed)...I agree that the hair you have is more romantic and natural, but the other style is intriguing too.

You have such a beautiful smile! And your make-up is flawless :)

Gorgeous!!

Girl your hair and make-up ROCK!! Your FI is going to be like this:

ARGH. Ate my post. Frick. Frap. And it was a LONG one too! Teaches me not to be so long winded (or to use Firefox when I am).

THANK YOU ALL for the amazing compliments! I totally did not expect to come home to this! Especially when I was out shopping today one lady called me OLD.

The first blush (and okay the second) are clearly gone (at least according to her). The credit goes to Maria. I do not look like that. LOL. On top of her skills as an MUA and hairdresser she is a great photographer (has a pro set up and everything in her studio). Plus she kept cracking me up and making me laugh and smile. At one point she says, "Bridesmaids are all well and good, but if something goes wrong I'm wearing flats and I can RUN." It was such a funny image.

Between her and Becky (my head photographer), not to mention Dee (catering manager) and Layla (Day of Coordinator-- yes, we have the same name, yes I think it might make for some funny moments), I think this wedding is going to be okay and I'm feeling like I may be able to relax and enjoy the day when it gets here. Maria even asked me what fabric my dress is so that she can make sure to bring the right stain removing agent in case of stains and what shade the dress is for chalk matching (in case the stain doesn't come up).

I agree that the hair looks tight, which is weird because both Maria and I kept losening it. But I think I'm going to go with the other style just to avoid the whole issue. John prefers my hair more down, and I think my face looks slimmer that way. Maria commented on the hair when she sent me the pics, and said she'd fix that the day of, but I like the other hairstyle, and think that since the curl did stay in my hair, it will work out. Thank you for the hair compliments, I do baby it, so it's nice that it photographs well.

The lipstick is Bobby Brown "Raisin." The lashes are individuals added to my own. And thank you for all the compliments on the features, the eyes are from my dad (lol) and many of my other features are from his side of the family. My mother and my aunts are 5'10" skinny and all look liked super models when they were younger so... I've never thought of myself as "gorgeous." I just look like me-- good or bad. And I don't look much like my mom AT ALL, which I've always lamented.

As a side note, the makeup-- especially the eyes, looks heavier in person and John DID see me yesterday all make up (and in sweats, I was a sight to behold) and it took him a WHILE to adjust. He kept saying "Your eyes look so big." He rarely sees me in any makeup, and as Violet and Amber can attest, I hardly wear eye makeup at all. At one point he tried to make a joke and says, "Okay, I'm getting used to it, I can marry that" and one of his coworkers (female) offerred to hold him down while I stab him with a rusty spoon. Overall, I'm VERY happy he saw me all made up because at he'll recognize me on the day of.

Wow Gypsy I hadn''t thought of that but my FI is probably going to react the same way..I don''t ever wear make-up except for sunscreen and lip gloss typically. If it''s a really nice occasion I add eye shadow.
6.gif
I love make-up..but I''m lazy. He is probably going to be very confused! Haha. I should probably try to see him the day of my trial so he doesn''t freak on our wedding day. And I think it''s really cool that the DOC has the same name because y''all don''t have the most common name..it''s beautiful..but it''s not as common as for example my name..I meet so many Sarah''s I am like pffft whatever another Sarah.

Okay, I just looked at the rates out of curiosity, and I think my heart stopped a little bit. Worth it, I''m sure just looking at your trial pictures, but WHOA. My heart still hasn''t recovered. Sadly, I''m being honest.

Yeah. That about sums it up. I thought I was crazy, like 'call the men with the white coats, ma' crazy to even consider it, but I met her and I have to say, totally worth it. Crazy, but worth it.

Sarah, yeah. I was like... should he see me, shouldn't he? But I'm really glad he did. I wear makeup when we go to weddings and to dinner parties, but it's mostly just mascara, some foundation, powder and lipstick unless it's an evening event and then I'll get crazy with a little shadow ( I own two shadows, individual ones, for the record) and on RARE occasions (really rare, as in I don't own any right now and haven't for over a year, if not more) a little eyeliner.

I've got my shower tomorrow so I'm actually *gasp* gonna put the ritz on and wear a little makeup (kinda wish I had eyeliner, now that I think about it).

I love the name Sarah. It's beautiful. I didn't meet another Layla till college, then was assigned one as a roomate (what wit decided that was the thing to do I'll never know), and I couldn't stand her... and I was like "why do you have my name, I can't stand you, you shouldn't have my name."
37.gif

You are gorgeous girlie!!!! I love the hair and makeup on you, but you don''t need either to look stunning!

Aww sorry! Hehe. It''s a beautiful name..there''s just far too many of us. I even have one..will be two..once I''m married family members named Sarah.
14.gif
Someone says Sarah..and they get.."Yes?" "Yes?" "Yes?" from three different people..

Everyone else has already said it, but it is true - you are stunning. I love your almond shaped eyes! You look just beautiful!
30.gif

I might be the crazy one here, but I think the rates are totally reasonable if I can look like that on my wedding day!

Seriously, you're going to look flawless and your photos will be amazing. Totally worth it, in my opinion. I am pretty bad at doing my own make up and every time I've been to a make up counter and someone does my make up, I end up looking like a freak!

ETA that I can't believe someone called you old today! How? Why? I don't get it! You don't look even close to old! I think I have more wrinkles than you and my college classmates all think I'm 20!

thing, obviously I agree cause I'm going for it, and I'm even willing to give up some flowers
23.gif
for it if I have to. I think the feeling of confidence that I'll have that I look the way I want to, and in my pics which will last beyond the one day, is totally worth it.

As for looking old. I was in a store today trying this dress on in turqouise http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7461264/c/6.html and I wasn't sure that I thought of it on me (I have my shower tomorrow and when my mom asked me what I was going to wear and I told her she freaked and ordered me to go shopping so I reluctantly did so) so I randomly asked a fellow shoppers opinion of the dress. She just stared at me up and down for a while, and I finally I told her its okay if she thinks I can do better and she says, "it's not that it's just such a YOUNG dress, a very youthful look, you know? A dress for someone younger." She like said it THREE times really emphasizing the 'youth' aspect of it all I was just so flabbergasted. I mean if I was wearing a slip dress or whatever, sure... but I didn't think there was anything particularly youthful about the dress, its just a party dress. She could have just said, ' I think you can do better,' or something, but no. I just didn't know what to say.

Sarah, it's weird for me to hear anyone say my name in reference to someone else. John on the other hand, doesn't blink... but then, I guess he's more used to it. LOL.

iluvcarats, thank you very much. I think the almond shape is due to the liner, she really wanted to emphasize that and worked on it. I like the way it turned out. I've always wanted my eyes to look like that.

Awww, Gypsy!!!

Sarah:

Hahaha, BF's family is the same way. His sister is Sarah, and it looks like his cousin might be proposing to his gf, Sarah sometime soon.

And then his other cousins...3 brothers, all married women with K names, and then one of them gave their daughter a K name. I can't keep them straight!

You''ve gotta be kidding what that girl said about your dress not being age-appropriate. It''s totally fine! It''s not like you were wearing a babydoll style or something. Sheesh. Trust me on this...you are NOTold!

I loved, loved your make-up. Your skin is sooo beautiful and flawless, and your eyes are gorgeous! I clicked on the link to your artist right away...sigh...there''s no way I can afford her, since I''d also have to pay to have her come to Yosemite.

Thing, I meant to say, makeup counters can be a REALLY bad thing. I either end up looking a)like I''ve tanned myself to death because they see olive skin and start piling on dark foundation and powder b) like I have black eyes (the smokey eye thing is NOT a look that is flattering on me). I think that''s part of the reason I don''t wear makeup. I never feel comfortable buying it. I did get lucky last time I was at Nordstroms though: the makeup department manager helped me, after several disasterous counter-girl experiences, and since she''s not brand loyal she just listened to what I want and went and found it for me. She gave me two or three options and even found a mascara I''m not allergic to (I''m horribly allergic to most mascaras my eyes swell and I look like a frog) that doesn''t clump, separates and defines, lengthens and thickens and doesn''t flake. I told her as far as I was concerned she walked on water. She also didn''t try to put anything on me, just let me put it on myself, and gave me little hints to teach me if I wasn''t doing something right. Also, I love going shopping with AmberG (for many reasons) because she loves makeup and knows what she''s talking about and makes it fun-- none of my freinds have ever been into makeup so it was eyeopening to go shopping with her. She raised my expectations.

(Amber, I''m so glad you approve. We need to GTG soon, you and I. Sorry I''ve been so crazy busy).

Whoa, what a rude (bad name)! Not to mention that the dress is great, and not at all "young"! And even if it was young, you''re not old! Geez! It''s just a simple party dress in a great shape and color! Just in case you weren''t already, ignore her!

Just saw your post about the make up! Yeah, I have terrible luck with those counter people! And the people at the Sephora near me are terrible, too! I''ve tried to get a good under eye concealer there several times, and every time they "help" me, I end up looking worse than when I came in!

They always slather it on me, and the last girl actually told me that "all make up looks like make up when you look at it up close." Um...last time I checked, the whole point of foundation/concealer is that it shouldn''t be COMPLETELY OBVIOUS I''m wearing it at first glance! Another time there were actual CHUNKS of concealer under my eyes and the guy was like "it looks good!" I didn''t even know what to say to him! I just left!

I need to shop around more and find someone good like your Nordstrom lady. The only make up I have comes from the drug store and I''m sure there''s better stuff that would work for me!

LOL. I know, I was so deflated I just took the dress off and went to another store determined to find a nice dress. And I ended up buying a ''younger'' dress than I usually wear anyway (I normally trade clothes with my grandmother so this is not difficult
20.gif
).

My skin is not flawless. I promise you. If I wasn''t totally embarrased by it, I''d post a close up of it. It''s quite terrible, the last (and only) time I went for a facial (long time ago, last year) the esthetician was just horrified. So is my dermatologist who perscribes me all kinds of things I''m too lazy to use. It''s the airbrushing. I swear. If you can get someone to airbrush your makeup, give it a try. It was my first time and I am just SOLD.

Traveling fees are tough, they really pile one. But a Yosemite wedding is worth the sacrifice... all that amazing natural backdrop, the feel of being away, truly away. Where in Yosemite are you getting married (did I miss the post)?

Dark circles are a PITA-- I have really bad ones. Maria said someone she knows just tried a new product that reduces them visibly, when she gives me the information, I''ll pass it on. She also spent a lot of time on them and sealed the concealer with a totally clear (it was white in the jar) powder to avoid it caking-- Sherrie did the same thing. I''ve never seen the brand of concealer and foundation Maria used on me and I don''t recall the name now either. But I''ve had the same experience with concealer. I end up with wrinkles from the concealer most of the time and I use drug store too. If I remember, I''ll ask her what concealer she recommneds. She did recommend Aveda loose powder though.

I had to walk away from the mac counter last time, the woman kept lining my lips outside of my lip-line... like WAY outside my lip-line telling me it would make my lips look fuller. Um... no it just looks like a two year old did my lipstick. Thanks.
20.gif
Sometimes you just gotta walk away.

About the dress... I wasn''t sure about it anyway, mostly because of the pleats and the color. And I found something I like better, so it worked out. I was still really flabbergasted though. I wanted to ask her how old she thought I was, but frankly, I was afraid to ask.

Oh. my. God.

GYPSY!!!! You are gorgeous!!!!

Seriously, honey, you''re beautiful. I love the makeup. And I would kill for eyes as stunning as yours.

It''s so funny to see pictures of PSers after reading their posts for ages. And I have to say, I think we have more beautiful ladies on this forum than I''ve ever seen together in real life. It''s unbelievable. I''m feeling like that odd-man-out in a group of people, you know, the one who clearly doesn''t fit in but they allow him to stick around anyway.

Ooh, please do pass along the dark circle info! I have bad ones too, and I always have! When I was a little baby I seriously had dark circles! I actually used to use Aveda pressed powder but I switched back to my Cover Girl powder. I''ll have to try the loose powder, though.

Yeah, I''d be scared to ask how old she thought you were, too! So rude! Your story made me think of my own old story: one time I was flying out of LAX with my coworker and this weird guy and his wife started chatting with us. I''m 5''8" and my coworker is probably 5'', but only a few years younger than me. The guy told us that he thought I was her MOTHER and she was my DAUGHTER!
23.gif
It was so insane I completely just shrugged it off. And his wife was pretty embarrassed. I think I was like 24 or 25 at the time and she was around 21! And I swear I don''t look that old and she doesn''t look that young! I just stopped chatting with him after that.

Sorry, thread jack over. But yikes! Haven''t these people ever learned basic social skills?!

Okay so rate-wise I''m paying a bit less than she charges and my gal is traveling from San Jose to me... I was wondering though, does she travel at all and if so what''s her charge? I need a backup plan in case mine sucks!
1.gif
And yes the rates are a bit hight but if i''ts just for you and you look that good! Then heck yeah it''s worth it!

Um. Haven. I mean this as seriously as I have ever been. Did you fall and crack your head? You are one of the most beautiful women on here, hands down. I swear to God, I got these pics and hesitated putting them up thinking, "Well, I''m no Haven... but I''m me and they''ll kill me if I don''t post my wedding pics, so we might as well get the face thing over with now." I swear. Odd man out? Only cause you set the standard honey.

That's the sweetest thing ever, Gypsy, thank you. I'm blushing but I don't know how to make my text red to show it.

You're truly beautiful. I'm so glad you finally showed your face on PS. Perhaps it's hard for us to see the beauty in ourselves, but sugar, I can see yours, and it is glowing. Like I said, I cannot wait to see your wedding pictures, they are going to be STUNNING.

Violet, I''m not sure about the traveling as the subject didn''t come up, but if you email her she''s good about answering. You are a beautiful woman, so I can''t imagine your trial being terrible! Will you post pics (or email them to me...lol). I''d love to see. It is worth it. We just won''t mention the cost to John again. At all. LOL.

Thank you Haven. Very much. Blushing here too. (
