Need opinions and recommendation on size of ring. MY GF, has look around and decided she loves a round diamond in a halo setting. Is a 2ct Rd with a halo to large in your opinion? Is there such a thing as a to large of diamond ring? LOL? Her ideal ring is the round with halo setting and some type of pave on the shank? Is there anything I should know and look for in this type of setting?

LOL you are asking a diamond forum if something is too large! I think a 2ct plus halo is perfect size. It is definitely not too large at all. What size ring is she? Maybe post some ring styles and we can advise if there are any concerns.

LOL! You are definitely correct that I was not thinking of who I was asking. Here is the picture of the actual ring on her finger at a local diamond shop in Krabi, Thailand. I do not have any details on the ring. I do not know the 4C's at all. I thought it might be a LGD because.of the low cost, but I go to the website and it seems they only deal with mined diamonds. I am guessing on the name f the shop, but I've been talking to a local custom jeweler in Krabi, and he told me that shop has quality diamonds. Either way, I will probably get this as a LGD as I think the price quoted is at a huge discount because of ongoing sale.

Here is the ring she loves on her finger. Not great pictures but it is all I have. I have a video, and I'll see if I can figure out how to post it. Her ring size is 55 in Thailand which I think corresponds to a size 7.5US.1746441217443.png

I personally believe that is a good size on her finger and hand.

There is always the option to upgrade to a bigger size at a later date, and re-purpose the original diamond into something else, etc...

DK :))

Any guesstimate on the CT size of the center stone? She didn't get the information as this was a quick stop, and it was not the primary purpose of her shopping trip.

I'm guessing the centre is around 1.5ct ish haha.

Here are my hands back in the days when my finger size was a 7 ish. This is a 1.3ct centre with halo.

No, sorry, can't help with that.

This ring is on sale for about $1200US right now. I have a quote of about $2200US to make this ring with a 1.5CT center stone for about $2200 from a custom jeweler that makes the rings handmade. Doesn't really matter at he moment as I'm not ready to buy unless it is a really great deal. I'm also waiting to hear back from a jeweler in Bangkok. Both professionals have great online reputations.

I think a 1.5ct lab diamond costs about $400-500 USD so that leaves about $700 USD for the setting so not a bad price.

The local custom jeweler said he thinks it looks like a .5ct Centerstone. I went to the website, and didn't see anything about LGD on it either. He told me if those are mined diamonds, it is a very very good price. He is basing that off of it being a .5ct centerstone. I think I need to tell the GF to go back before the sale ends and get me the detailed information. ASAP!

I don't agree that it's 0.5ct.

Here's a comparison of 0.5ct vs 1.5ct on a size 7.5 finger.
