2ct moissy v Asha

So I found this setting set that I love. It came with a 8mm omc cushiony Asha. I wasn’t sure I loved how it performed so I ordered an 8 mm oec in a L ish color because I love that warm vanilla look for oecs.

What do you think? Reset with the moissy? Pictures and vids to follow.

is asha a covered cubic?
I am not familiar with what an asha is and I think there is more than one kind?

I would pick which ever stoe is more durable because a set stone in a ring will get knocked around a lot and you dont want chipping if you can avoid it!

Good point - alert the admins to move it to Fabulous Fashion and you’ll get a lot more feedback.
I like the facet pattern of the OEC but the high crown of the Asha. I feel like you could do better on the OEC and have the flowery pattern and a high crown. Where is this OEC from?

I'm wondering why the OEC Moissanite has a flatter crown?!?.. I have owned several OEC Moissanites over the years and they all had high/tall crowns ... They were C&C Moissanite though, so maybe that's why?.. I would stay away from the Asha for durability....As beautiful as they are , they do get scratched like any CZ does ...

The moissy was a cheapie (<100$) from ebay because I’ve never seen the material before and didn’t want to invest too much in a branded one before laying eyes on it at all. Now that I have though I might consider a AV or CC one.

I think I’ll set the moissy for now and wear it awhile to see if anything about the material itself irks me like the double refraction etc. I’m heard some folk also notice a green tint of some sort. If it works out though I think I’ll get a nicer cut one ! Will definitely also keep an eye out in the preloved sections.

Set the moissy and definitely love it more than the Asha. But also realized I’d rather have an ideal H&A than an oec because my bangle is super ideal rounds and I overall just prefer the look of MRBs as it turns out!

So now I have an 8mm round coming from August vintage that I’ll be replacing the oec with. But in the meantime it’s still super pretty.

@MakingTheGrade came back to look again. Searching for inspiration for my AVR setting. I love your setting and I’m leaning towards rose gold or some rose gold incorporated in. Would you mind sharing where your setting came from? And perhaps share some more pics?

It’s a custom setting based on MC2 designs. So not super easy to reorder.

My reading re Ashas is that they are just a fancy type of CZ, they have supposedly some carbon (diamond) coating over a CZ core. They will test as glass (like CZ does) with a diamond tester.
They have a lower refractive index than diamond and lower dispersion. Their hardness is 8.5 to 9 (less than sapphire, similar to Topaz)
Moissanite has a higher dispersion than diamond, more fire and is harder than sapphire 9.5.
Both stimulants are doubly refractive, diamonds single refractive.
Me, I’d always choose a Moissanite, I prefer the higher dispersion / fire.

Yeah I wanted to test drive one before I committed to a branded moissy that was pricier. Mostly because I wasn’t sure if he double refraction would annoy me or if there would be a film. But I’m happy with the gem properties and am excited to get my ideal cut MRB from August vintage!

That ring is super pretty. Love the setting and think the moissy looks really nice in it.
