Hi all,

I am looking for a diamond with 2ct+ / H or G / Round / ideal cut at eye-clean clarity and no fluoro under a budget of around US$20k.

I am deciding between the following and would love to hear your thoughts. Personally I lean towards buying on JA given greater familiarity and ability to have 360 degree magnified view.

option 1 (currently preferred)

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/2.01-carat-h-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-3588790?a_aid=pd
- main concern is on clarity. is it going to be eye clean under a relatively strict sense
- HCA score of 0.9 which is below 1, would it matter
- how does its cutting look like?

option 2
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/2.02-carat-h-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-3543462?a_aid=pd
- worse cutting at higher clarity compared to option 1 (but if option 1 is already eye-clean, then I don't really think higher clarity is a huge plus)
- idealscope image attached
option 2 JA.jpg

option 3
https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/R221-257313Z14?a_aid=pd

- main concern is on the vendor name and how good its reputation is
- competitive pricing given larger carat size. but again worried about general quality and reliability
- I would like international shipping so not sure whether it's a safe choice. how does its return policy look like
- how good is this cutting compared to option 1

many thanks!

Did you put #2 on hold? It says that it's sold. I'm on my phone so I can't see the IS images of #1 but it is True Hearts so I imagine that it's better than #2. I'm not sure about the inclusion on the table though. Did you ask if it's eye clean?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, option 2 is on hold and re Option 1, my main concern is eye-cleanness.

Put the true hearts in hold and ask them for an idealscope and/or ASET image. The crystal seems clear and zoomed down to normal size (8mm) I don't see it. I would love to see the scope images of this stone.

The second one looks like light is leaking under the table. Clarity doesn't overcome cut. I'll let more seasoned posters analyze the image. It has skinnier arrows than the true hearts. (personal preference toward chubbier arrows, which the first (and third) one has, and skinny, as #2 has).

The third stone from enchanted diamonds has chubby arrows too. Didfferent angles but I can't tell on the ASET whether that is leaky under the table vs too much back lighting The crystal smack dab in the center of the table appears to reflect around the entire stone (see hearts view). It lists cloud in the grade maker, but also additional clouds not shown. So although it's a VS2, you'd want a gemologist to assess eye cleanliness. I'd also like to see more views of the stone (profile, or in motion).

Thanks for the advice! Please see below the scope image for option 1.

That's the kind of look I was hoping for. Though it looks like h&a image, not an IS.

The hearts and arrows look pretty symmetrical, and I love the chunky lowers. Did you ask for a gemologist to comment on if it's eye clean at what distance/angle?

Bottom image is an IS, hearts and IS both look great.
