$20k to spend - MRB super ideal or FCD?

Ok, so I've been considering an uprage of my wife's ER. When this COVID-19 horror ends, hopefully I will be able to make dreams come true. But my dreams vary. First I wanted a super ideal MRB ~1,6 ct. Now, I started pondering a FCD (pink-ish area) when looking around Leibish inventory etc.

Let's assume I'll have a budget of $20k (diamond + ring) and my wife doesn't care :) Which option would you suggest in terms of retaining value and overall uniqueness? I'm well aware that within this budget a FCD won't be a massive rock (in contrast with a substantial ~7,5 mm of MRB 1,6 ct). But having a not-so-common FCD on my wife's finger is tempting… Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but please help my eyes :)

What ER does your wife have currently? What does she do for work/leisure? What is the rest of her jewellery like? Does she wear coloured stones etc? What sort of FCD are you thinking of?
Does she actually not care?

I think it matters as to what the wearer wants. Would she like these options? Does she have a preference?

For fancy, look at Diamonds by Lauren as well.

Personally, I think a fancy pink is more appealing than a super ideal round. It is much rarer.

A fancy pink sounds dreamy to me and expensive. :)
Would she want something like that for everyday?

That’s a tough call unless I know for sure her preferences.

I'm not sure if this is a preferred vendor or not, but brilliance.com has some neat coloured diamonds!

A fancy pink will be like .20 in size (argyle mine) (believe me, Kzigo and I have been looking for a while now lol)... unless you go man made diamond.

I’m all for fancy colors. I LOVE yellow diamonds myself, but my cousin for instance HATES them with a passion because to her, they look cheap.

Another thought, Diamonds by Lauren sometimes gets in brownish pink diamonds... I’ll go look in a minute.

Since I’m upgrading my CBI, I’ve been on the high performance diamond website, and i wanted to throw this one out there: https://www.hpdiamonds.com/en-us/diamonddetail/HPD10874

Let me go look at Diamonds by Lauren and see if I can pull anything out for you. They also have orange diamonds, which I am very attracted to.

It depends on what your wife likes and would she like to be included in this process? My personal feeling is women should pick out their own jewelry, but that’s me.

You could halo it.

Kind of like this

Digressing,

I have special respect for yellow diamonds - the best of the best, fit among the most spectacular colored stones overall [color as convincing as anything & diamond brighteness!]; I am very biased for step cuts & this is the least common cut for fancy color - FVoY.

Then, www no other stone does the subtle pink so beautifully! For strong pink, there are options www

@bling_dream19 The deep pink sapphire is news to me - there seem to be quite a few very, very beautiful stones of such color around all of a sudden, big & small www [these two are amusingly identical on my screen - red/pink-red] I do not mind diamonds in the same color, sure enough, but it is somewhat pointless pursuit.

FCD all the way! But this is subjective. I adore FCDs because as someone else has stated they have color and diamond light return, the best of both worlds to me. OTOH, of course a colored stone has many attributes a diamond does not have and an FCD will not have near the cut and light return of a super ideal diamond. I have to admit that I too like everythibg.:)))

As far as FCDs go I own mainly yellows , orange yellows and greens but I too am really toying with the idea of a pink. I personally love fancy light to fancy pinks, pastel, nude pinks. Even if you want a lighter pink, you will likely have to increase your budget to get a stone with some size. Alternatively you can get a brown modifier as someone has mentioned, I find those stones very charming and you can still halo.

I do not think a lighter pink screams expensive at all, I think a big white draws more attention.

The best decision would be to involve your wife in the decision. At least show her options and see what she likes. Most women do have preferences.

This maybe a crazy question, but she does like pink, correct? I like FCD in lots of colors, but don’t like pink, so definitely wouldn’t want a pink one. I also wouldn’t want a FCD as my ER now...and I originally wanted one years ago but the budget wouldn’t allow it. Love them as RHR—but this is just my opinion. I think it is important to find out what she would want....

I totally agree. You are either a pink person or you are not. I am not. So when you say she doesn't care do you know that she loves pink enough to wear it regularly? If she doesn't, then I wouldn't go in that direction.
