Since I've decided to go with VC instead of my jeweler, I am hoping he will still allow me to buy my stone (2.04 RBC k color.) My husband raised the concern that maybe he wouldn't want to sell the diamond since I'm not having him do the setting. I don't know for sure, but wanted to put out what I paid for it and see if I could come close to a similar diamond in that price range. You all are amazing at finding diamonds for prices I seriously never even knew were possible.

I'll be so glad when this or another diamond is just ON IT'S WAY to VC so I can wear it.

So, the diamond in question is a 2.04 RBC very good cut, K color, 8.23 mm. That's all the info I have- the GIA cert is at the shop. We paid $10,500. I am not MARRIED to a modern cut. I LOVE the august vintage and OEC's. I didn't see color in the K? So maybe I am not color- sensitive, but I don't want something that is going to look yellowy. If I could find something even bigger, great. I am a size whore. I am sure that's not likely, though...

The setting will be the VC Emilya if that helps at all.....

Thanks for all your help!!!!

*I searched a little and told DH we would be able to get something similar at around $12,000. He said "What I was hoping for was finding something similar around $8,000." He's SO funny.......

You can do much better online. When I put your requirements with a little wiggle room into the diamond search function there are plenty of options around 10k. I would rather shop online where I can shop around for the best cut/ color/ HCA that I can find.

I just looked through them. I can't any more, since it will just eat at me. I wish I had found pricescope BEFORE we bought the diamond. My husband just called and he is fine with us just buying the diamond and not doing the work with him, so it's all good (besides the fact I could have had more diamond for my money  .) I am so relieved to put this all behind me. I feel bad for not going with my jeweler for the setting, but I feel that I made the right decision going with Victor. I would have always been second guessing myself.

Thanks!

Are you sure you want to go through with the purchase of the stone from your jeweler? If you could get more diamond for the same cost online then I think it would be worth the few extra days wait time. JA can get you images with a day or two and then they overnight the stone to you. Vendors with the stones in house can have the stone to you in one two or three days.....that's not such a long time when you consider how long you will be wearing this beauty! Oh, another thought....the vendors could send the stone directly to VC as well which would save time and you'd have another expert set of eyes to assess and approve the stone for you....

I don't really understand why you would need to ask this if you have already paid for and purchased the diamond. Like you said it will only make you feel bad unless you are intending to go back to the jeweller and get a refund.

yeah, we are committed to this stone. I really really LOVE it. It is also about the size of a 2.2 because of the spread. I did go through alot of the matches of the ones that were cheaper and they didn't have GIA certs, had a smaller spread, and some other things that I didn't like. We traded a hot tub with our jeweler too, so we only paid about $8,500 for the stone anyway.

We had paid for the diamond, but he thought HE was making the setting. My husband and I thought he POSSIBLY could decide not to sell us the stone because we didn't go with him for the setting. He had had another customer inquire about putting it in a pendant, and I thought he might decide that would be worth more to him. I posted this before DH heard back from him.

I have posted about this before. The thing that makes this particular situation complicated is that we are very good friends with my jeweler and his wife. It's hard doing business with friends.

Oh yes! I remember your last thread now! I actually took a minute to have a look around for comparable stones and I wasn't able to find much, so I don't think that you are getting a bad deal. :)) I'm excited that you are able to get started on this project and can't wait to see the finished piece!! Countdown starts ......NOW!
