Hello - I need some help deciding between the following stones - both are GIA certified:

1. Round, 2.68 carat, H, SI2, Cut: Excellent, Polish: Very good, Symmetry: Very Good, Flour: none

Table: 58%
Depth: 62.1%
Crown: 35 deg.
Pavilion: 40.8 deg.
thin to slightly thick faceted

2. Round, 2.27 carat, F, SI2, Cut/Polish/Symmetry: Excellent, Flour: none

Table: 57%
Depth: 62.6%
Crown: 36 deg.
Pavilion: 41 deg.
medium faceted

Number 1 is about $3,000 more than number 2. Money is not a issue, I just want to go with what is a better value. Both stones seemed eyeclean to me, and having a VS2 is not my priority. I do not think my GF will scrutinize the stone too too much either - def not with a lupe. What do you all think and why? I was leaning towards number 2, but number 1 got a excellent score on the Holloway Cut Adviser and now I am confused again...

I appreciate the help. I have learned a ton from reading this forum and seeing people pick various stones...however I still have the same issue I was trying to avoid - trouble deciding

pav on 1 is wrong

2 is steep/deep

I can guarantee that your gf will scrutinize every micromm of that diamond, from every single angle, and these are big stones so be prepared to have her see some inclusions from some angles in some lights..a totally eyeclean 2+ SI2 is a very, very rare thing. Or better yet, ask her how she feels about it.

LOL! I bet she will.

fixed the pav...thanks for the input.

1st diamond numbers look nice if eyeclean - is to confirm?

First one might be ok, pass on the second. Do you know if the first is eyeclean and what the grade making inclusions are such as clouds, feathers etc? Can you get an Idealscope image for the first diamond?

prefer #1 from the numbers.
