Which would you choose? By the way for the record, I have seen a 2.4 ACA I color next to my 2.0 ES E color and I could barely tell the difference. I can see color differences, but I don''t think that I mind some color. I also like the SB fluor of the K. Never seen an ideal K though.

Just hypothetical questions of course!

Of course, supposing that they are true ideals, and just for a bit of fun - I would choose the 2.7 I , simply as anything larger would not suit my ring finger - now, if we''re talking RHR - then probably the 3.3 J. - but this would look stoopid big!
9.gif

Angeline, are you actually considering any of these or is this a just for fun question?

Ah arjunajane.... I don't know! Hanging out on PS is so bad for me! I have size 6 fingers and am quite tall and am older! so I figure I can go the bigger stone. It's my last upgrade so I want to make sure I luuuurve it!

I just don't think the 2.7ish looks that big on me
6.gif
But superideal is very attractive...

I'm torn as usual.

p.s. edited to add, they are all GIA EX, or AGS0

If price weren''t a factor I''d take the 4ish K with flourescence. Heck I have a 2ish L with SB, so it would be a upgrade in size AND color

I have big fingers, so I''d rock that bling proudly.

ya know purrfectpear, I like your style! (I do like your attitude in general)

I have just inched my way up the upgrade path and if I''d just gone all out to begin with I would have actually saved money. That''s why I''m thinkin'' of the 4ct-er.. even though it''s about 6k more than the J and maybe 3k more than the I.

And how do you find your L? I''ll have to go look it up. How does the fluor affect it?

Haha, well, I''m teensy tinsy, not too old and I''d take the 4ish! Especially if this is a final upgrade. I can''t wait to see what kind of a hypothetical decision you make!

well then, if its a final upgrade i guess it would be a different story then hon!
so, I would say it would be between the 3.3 and the 4ish, depending on your preference for colour. That said, there is every chance that a K with SB will be close to a J if not same. I would ask the vendor to check on that one for you..

How exciting! I know totally what you mean about hanging around PS - not healthy for my wallet, but fun for meee!

I know, I don''t know why I feel the need to justify my possible (hypothetical

) thoughts and decisions!

Ain''t that the truth!

Ooh, tough dilemma

Heh. If the cuts really are pretty darn close to superideal, I''d go for the 4ish one. If you''re trying on the 2.7 & thinking already it''s not big enough, you''d be better off going with the largest one right off the bat, if you can. Also the fluoro would be awesome, and I heart lower colors even in round brilliants. Seriously, in a superb cut in a large size like that, color is the LAST thing anyone looking at it on your hand is gonna notice. Sure, you''ll probably see some from the side, but who cares? For a 4 ct ideal cut, IMHO a K color is no sacrifice. I wear a 3.55 ct OEC in an M color, and really, people do NOT see color in a stone like that, and it doesn''t return white light like an ideal RB would, either. I see some color in mine, because I stare at it, but I like it. It''s more steely looking than yellowish, if you don''t look at it from the side. I imagine an ideal K wouldn''t look yellow to me at all.

I think that 4 cts is riiiight about the perfect super-huge size; so big that if you start to get DSS you can just smack yourself upside the head and remind yourself that anything bigger would be overkill.

I would grab the K, but in a rock that large it may show a bit more warmth - wouldn''t bother me, but it depends on you! See what WF think if you decide to explore this further....
28.gif

For a final upgrade? Yup, I''d snatch the 4-ish if all the cuts are pretty equal. I don''t mind a little warmth in my stones. I''m not that color sensitive thank goodness. The only other thing I can emphasize is that WE WILL NEED PICS!!

You must be so excited at the prospect of such a massive rock!

And how do you find your L? I''ll have to go look it up. How does the fluor affect it?
I found it at Whiteflash, they rated it 4 stars. It was incredibly cheap compared to most 2 carat stones. It''s a 2.06 pear that''s slimmer than most, so it faces up closer to 2.5+ (12.12 long, 6.67 wide)
Unfortunately I don''t have a digital camera with me (I''m on a temp assignment for a year and didn''t take a lot of stuff with me) so the only pictures on PS are the ones that WF took. The flourescence isn''t noticeable at all except for the fact that it makes the L look much whiter, and in the sunlight there''s a slight lilac hue to the fire.

Pic HERE

I search PS all the time to see if there''s another total steal out there, but alas this appears to be one that just slipped through the cracks.

Thanks Lorelei.. I think WF are just so sick of me (changing my mind!) they might be glad to assist me in a ''final'' upgrade! They are so great tho, Katie is an angel to keep helping me without gettin'' fed up!

IrishBreakfast - (my favourite tea btw) I am excited but a bit scared too... I''m very low-key, don''t have a flashy circle of friends, but I just LOVE diamonds! The way prices are going this will have to be the final upgrade though.

Well Miss Lorelei... I am

. I've been looking for a while, but they keep getting sold under me. Seriously, what recession, every 3ct rock I look at and ask about comes back as 'just sold'! I was just playing around on the weekend and saw this one (the 4ct K). I'm just trying to get through right now to WF and find out more about it, like if it's still even there! Wish me luck!

Well I spoke to Katie... and she really thinks it will be too ''yellow'' for me based on my previous preferences for higher colors.. I have an E now. They do have a 3ct ACA J coming in soonish so I''m going to find out more about that one.

I dunno... the SB just sounds so fun though! I wish I could dial-a-diamond in the exact specs I want..
