Hello everyone,
I’ve been a Pricescope enthusiast for a while now, but have never posted until today. I’d like to thank this community for its wealth of knowledge and how instrumental it was in helping me find the ideal diamond and setting. Now that my journey is almost complete, I thought I’d share my experience with everyone and contribute back to the community.
Diamond:
After searching both online and at various local jewelers for over 6 months, I finally I purchased the diamond last October. I had several Pricescope vendors emailing pictures and ASET images of their cushions, but in the end, found what I was looking for with GOG. They were incredibly easy to work with and Jonathan was very helpful and patient with all of my requests and inquires. At one point, we were even talking about having GOG cut a rough to my specifications!
Specifications:
2.817ct AVC
Color: F
Clarity: SI1 (eye clean)
Polish: Ideal
Symmetry: Ideal
Fluorescence: Medium
Cutlet: Medium
Measurements: 8.34 x 8.34 x 5.69 (perfect square!)
The diamond is absolutely beautiful and is blinding under the California sun
. I was a little worried without having seen an actual AVC in person prior to the purchase, but I knew hundreds of satisfied Pricescopers couldn’t be wrong. I did, however, have my fiancé stop by GOG and look at AVCs in person to see if she liked the vintage look.
AVC in a “temporary” setting

Setting:
My fiancé liked the HW cushion halo design, so I started researching the usual pave masters that are highly regarded on Pricescope. At that time, Leon Mege had the most buzz so I contacted him initially.
However, living in Orange County, CA, I did not want the hassle of shipping the diamond back and forth to NY. (Especially every time a melee fell off). After some research, I found that Victor Canera was in LA so I set up a time to visit his office and see his work.
Victor was extremely pleasant and after seeing first hand some of Pricescoper’s rings that were in development, I knew I could trust him. I was also fascinated with his hand forging technique. Being in the dental field and having had the experience of casting gold crowns during dental school, I was very familiar with the inherent difficulties with casting. He was also very accommodating to little details and requests and VERY PROMPT with his email responses.
The engagement ring was made from 11 individual pieces of platinum with 0.73ct of single cut melee. I was going back and forth between full cut and single cut, so Victor had samples of both (loose melee diamonds) ready for me to evaluate. The full cut diamonds looked nice, but at that size, their flashes were small tiny dots. Whereas the single cut diamonds gave off larger, broader flashes. Victor thought the single cuts would match the AVC better so I finally decided to go with them.
The eternity wedding band is 1.8mm in diameter with 0.43ct of single cut diamonds. I also had Victor make my 6mm width wedding band in platinum.

I haven’t seen them in person yet, but here are the pictures Victor has sent me. It’s also featured on the front page of his website http://www.victorcanera.com. I will be posting live pictures once I pick them up this week!
Thanks everyone
