Cousingigi, would you mind sharing how the whole process worked since you bought both your gorgeous diamond and the setting from different online retailers? Who was the one who set your stone and re-sized the ring? Did you have your diamond sent directly to Barmakian?
I was thinking of going through Barmakian for my upgrade setting also because their online prices are so much better than what I''ve seen in local B&Ms. If it''s not too prying, did Barmakian honor their online price? (I''ve noticed they''ve had the same prices on their website for more than a year and so not sure if they just don''t update their website).
Sorry for so many questions - but I''m just curious as to how you made it all work?
It wasn''t that much of an ordeal actually. Barmakian and Blue Nile overnighted the respective pieces to my fiance''s office. He called and got them insured then took them to a local jeweler where they were set and sized. Some jewelers aren''t willing to work on someone else''s pieces for liability reasons, but if you choose a reliable hometown (non-chain) jeweler, then they are less likely to have a problem. The insurance helps if they do something to mess them up and refuse to make it right.
