So Whiteflash got the stone in and I've attached the sarin report and IdealScope image.
Thinking I'm going to go ahead with this and have them send it to an appraiser in my area.

Any thoughts/comments? This is a GIA Excellent for cut, symm and polish.
Has medium blue fluorecsence

me three, definitely worth a closer look...

Thank you for responding :)

Vera at Whiteflash said "Wow what a beauty!! Magnificent" but for this type of purchase, I''d be more comforatable seeing what an apprasier has to say. Also wondering, do the sales associates at Whiteflash see the stones or are they just repeating what someone else who has said??

Anyhow, I emailed back this morning asking how we can send it to Just Apprasiers in NY, where they and I can take a look at it. Providing they say it''s a good stone, I''m getting it!! Hoping they do because it''s 140 to ship it back!!

I can''t answer that, not sure. My "guess" would be, most of the time they haven''t. She also might have meant by the numbers, just a guess, again.

Let us know how it goes!

Ellen -

I was thinking the same thing so just sent another email asking who saw the stone and if it''s eye clean.
I know that generally VS2''s should be, but from the GIA report it looks like most of the inclusions are on the table so just want to make sure nothing''s visible.

Elle, great question.

The first ''feedback'' opportunity comes when we put a call out to inquire about a stone. Our gal inhouse who deals with the outside vendors has a really strong and longstanding relationship with the vendors, so she''s great at getting some initial feedback on the diamond (i,e. how well cut, is it eyeclean, performance, etc).

Through our relationships with those vendors, they''ve come to know what Whiteflash''s standards are, so they are pretty candid in telling us how the stone looks. It wouldn''t make sense for them to be misleading as they know we''d reject the stone during our quality evaluation anyway.

Once a stone comes in, it goes to our inhouse inspectors for evaluation. If it earns our stamp of approval, then we offer it to the client. That''s an important element because we promise to allow trade-in for any stone we approve with an AGS or GIA grading report, so our approval means it''s a stone we''d comfortable take back for our own inventory.

The sales associates aren''t in the same location as the inventory, but they don''t really need to be. When stones come in, our inspection staff notes their observations for each stone onto a reference sheet that''s accessible by the sales associates. When your S/A tells you what the stone looks like and what the inclusions are, they are giving you the information noted by the qualified inspector who actually looked at/evaluated the stone.

Of course, there is no substitute for your own eyes, and that''s why you get an inspection period. Your eyes are really the ones that matter. :-)

I think it''s a great idea to have your local appraiser review the stone, too; it''s a nominal investment for peace of mind.

Allison,

Thank you for explaining how the process works.

Now just waiting to hear back from Vera so we can start the process of getting it to the appraiser.

I hope it IS the one!

for now

Ellen,

This site needs to come with a LARGE RED " WARING" Label.

Between finding the perfect stone, diamond shrinkage, and amazing settings, it becomes very dangerous to your spouses wallet!!

So i finally picked up my stone from the apprasier two days ago. Would love to post more picutres but i caught a terrible cold so these are it for now

I need your help once more though.
Originally I was going to do a solitare. But, i have an extra .50 h vs2 stone I purchased from Whiflash a month ago to replace my moms lost earring. When she found out how much is cost, she goes ''send it back"!!. But like a true pricescoper, that would be sacrilege. So i decided to keep the stone and eventually get another for a set of earrings.
The problem is I don''t wear earrings so am now debating doing a three stone ring. The .50 is an AGS0 and soo sparkly for it''s size I just love it.
It also looks like it compliments the 2.52 nicely. But, I have a 5 stone ring made of up large stones so maybe stay with the solitare idea??

I just don''t know. Your opionions and ideas are greatly appreciated.

here are the two together

Wow, great shot of the two stones side by side. My original ering is a 1/2ct, so it''s fun to see the size jump to that 2.52ct stone. Both look gorgeous from the photos, too.

As for the solitaire v. 3-stone, it depends on how you are planning on wearing the rings and your personal tastes. For me, I would stick with a solitaire if I had a largish 5-stone band that I wore all the time. But, if I also had a smaller diamond or plain band, either the solitaire or the 3-stone would both look gorgeous. I am not of the camp that more is better, but it really depends on your hands, lifestyle, and personal preferences.

Thanks for responding Erica.

Currently i wear my 5 stone with my plain wedding band. When i have this set i guess i would alternate. I''m with ya on the "less is more".
Wouldn''t wear my 5 stone with the 2 1/2 carat regardless of how i have it set. I think it''s too much for me.

Wow!! What a gorgeous stone!

I'd do a solitaire with that stunner.

Do you have a pendant? I think a pendant would be a great use for your other
beauty...especially if you don't want earrings.

Hi coatimundi
35.gif

I do have a pendant. It was my first H&A stone i purchased from GOG.
it''s also a 1 carat so unless i''d wear them together, I doubt i''d wear the 1/2 carat on it''s own
7.gif

Hmm.. maybe something like a DBTY with smaller stones around it at 16 inches? wow, i just don''t know
7.gif

oooo a DBTY necklace would be stunning!

hmmm a toughie, but a good toughie
1.gif

Do you like colored stones? What about a RHR with sapphires or something? Sapphire in the middle with 2 .50 on on the sides? .50 in the middle with smaller sapphires on the sides?

hmmmm

Ya know, a sapphire ring is as great idea as it''s my birthstone as well. Would a cushion cut look good with round sides?

So it looks like 2 votes for solitare huh.

elle, you bought the stone of my dreams! A 2.50 is where I''m going when I do my upgrade and a G/VS is right up this gemgirl''s alley.

OK, I''ll be odd woman out again...... I''m OK with that. If you REALLLLLY don''t think you''ll be tempted to wear your five stone with your new stone, my vote goes to a three stone ring. Have you tootled over to "Show Me The Ring" lately? A few ladies have some drop dead gorgeous three stones (there''s a recent thread you can search and find easily) and in fact one women just got engaged recently with a 4.00 ct plus round center with a rather substantial diamonds on either side, and on her hand it''s simply fabulous. I wouldn''t count out the idea of a three stone until you look at some of those PSer''s rings.

Many congrats on your new sparkly treasure. It''s gorgeous!

Hi gemgirl

Nope, there''s no way i''d wear a 3 stone with my 5 stone. Main reason being is my wedding band is well, my wedding band. I always wear it regardless what else goes with it. Sentimental like that.

I know i should get over to SMTR but i''ve kinda been avoiding it thinking it''s gonna cause even more confusion as to what i should get.. lol.

hey elle, your new bauble looks like it''s a winner!

i would go the solitaire route, only cuz i''m a die hard solitaire girl! you can enjoy the solitaire for now and some years down the line, if you want you can reset it into a 3 stone. but definitely solitaire right now! plus i think it''ll look fabulous with your 5 stone band.

i think you''ll change your mind about wearing the two together. there''s no such thing as too much bling!
10.gif

regarding your naked 0.50ct stone, do you have your ears pierced? if so then get another stone to match it for a simple pair of studs. they''ll be a great size to wear on an everyday basis.

if not, i would say set it into another pendant and you can wear it together with your other 1ct H&A pendant, but on a shorter chain, kinda like how giada on food network wears her chains. it looks so beautiful like that!

girl, i wish i had the same diamond problems you have right now! how fun!!!
