I think I mentioned in another thread that I''ve been longing for a Mahenge spinel ever since I saw the rough Gene brought back in July. This one however, is from Gary Braun, from his latest Africa trip (I think!).

Of course it didn't arrive until late in the day, so even though these next photos were taken in natural light, it's pretty dim - hence the noise/grainyness.

last one in natural light for now.

There is an inclusion, but I swear, I have a hard time seeing it in normal viewing distance. And given that it helped keep the cost down, I''m actually very grateful for it - kinda weird to say, huh?!

Swoon. Worthy.

I haven''t been a pink girl up to this point, but THIS makes me want one!

The last pic and the rest of these were taken in incandescent light. Again, you can see the inclusion in this shot.

Okay, I was concerned about how small this one would be - i have a 6x8mm oval that looks really small. Those extra .3mm plus corners really make a difference!

LOVE IT! The color is gorgeous and I love the cut! The inclusion just gives it character!

Looks darn good in the different lights. I like the direction of the inclusion, too. It fits in well with the cut. Just a little birthmark, that hopefully, you won''t notice most of the time.

Thanks packrat and Fly Girl - I definitely think you''re right about the inclusion!

Okay, round 2 - this one was taken in the window.

Thank you platinumrock - I''m sure loving the color too!

I mentioned earlier that I tried to get a sense of the size with one of my 6x8mm ovals. So here they are side-by-side, and you can see the difference that 3-tenths of a millimeter and some corners made.

How beautiful! The pic of your collection is great, too.

Gorgeous spinel Cell! Any setting plans?

It looks like a candy factory when they are all lined up! Wonderful stone!
