There are three possible scenarios I could use help with! I lurked quite a bit when choosing my engagement ring stone, and learned alot, so I figured this would be the place to go for help.

My husband and I went to look at wedding bands or a new mounting for my engagement ring. I could never decide on a band and kind of forgot about, I didn''t like the look of two rings. I love the halo look- thanks to all of the eye candy here on pricescope.

We were looking at the Ritani Bella vita mounting for my radiant. I love the stone and it really really sparkles.

specs: color : E SI 1
weight: 1.54
7.04 x 6.53 x 4.14
length to width ratio : 1.08
table % 65
traditional depth % 63.4

Radiant specific measuements:

visible surface area 42.95 adjusted depth % 60.6 adjusted crown height % 11.2 adjusted pavilion depth % 47.0

Then my husband saw a jaw dropping yellow diamond that he wanted me to try on. It has two micro halos, the first yellow and the second white- which blend seamlessly and show very little metal. The basket also has lots of micro pave work, yellow and white. My husband loves it, and so do I. I want to know if it is a good stone- I don''t know anything about colored diamonds. The ring is significantly more than remounting my radiant- is it worth it?

Yellow specs:
Cusion modified brilliant
7.33 x 6.67 x 4.71
2.17 carat
Color: natural fancy yellow distribution: even
VS2
Polish & Symmetry good Medium blue flor

From the diagram across measurement (table?) 71 % total depth ? 70.6 % very thick (girdle?) extremely thick (under girdle to bottom point) and then "none" at bottom point

Trade in value for my radiant : 12,100 (what we paid for it)
new ring 26,259 mounting about 6,500 due to all of the pave work

Option one: reset my stone into Ritani bella vita $1500
Option two: trade in for new ring $14,150 Yikes!!
Option three: set budget of 8 or 10 k and find yellow stone to go into Ritani bella vita setting. Look would be similar to above ring, but would not have the extra yellow pave halo, or pave work on basket.

new ring (potentially) I only had my phone with me, sorry it is not a great pic

This is my current engagement ring

This is the Ritani setting I would put my current stone into, or a yellow diamond that we find. I would get prongs instead of the bezel

What do you all think?

I''m no expert, but the color of that yellow is YUMMY.

When considering a fancy yellow diamond, it''s important to point out that Medium Blue is considered a "detraction" - although it might not have a detrimental effect on how the stone looks, it should affect the price ( make it lower)

It''s also important to point out that the selling price of such a stone is going to be a lot higher in a walk in store, as compared to purchasing from an online seller.
In many cases, consumers are more comfortable in a walk in store, making the price difference worth it,.
But since you''re asking here, it makes sense to point it out.

Lauren- thank you for your comment! I was wondering about the blue flor.

We are limited to this store because it is where I got my engagement ring from, and can be traded in for an upgrade. Online stores won''t take my stone, right? Or will they?

Ooops I mean David- sorry

Hello David,

I am wondering if the points you mention are much different from colorless diamonds?

Thanks.

Tom- Hi!

If we''re discussing goods of colors H and higher, yes, it''s very similar.
If we''re discussing I-J colors, no.
If one considered K-L-M and lower colors ( till we get to Fancy Light yellow) again, fluorescence has little bearing on the price, according to our market experience.
In fact, J colors with fl may even bring a premium.

Petrock- yes, some online merchants will accept stones they did not sell on trade ins ( we have on many occasions)

If the price difference on the purchase is large enough, you might come out better even if your trade in was valued at a much lower price than you paid.
