Hi everyone!

I found this picture of a 1939 New York World's Fair pin (I'm calling it a brooch

). It shows the famous Trylon and Perisphere of the 1939 New York World's Fair. I thought some of you might enjoy it.

Please follow this link if you'd like to see a good real life picture of the World's Fair from an aerial view. Picture courtesy of the New York Public Library.

Interesting, Danny. The photo of the World''s Fair certainly puts the design of the pin-er, brooch-in some context. But then I find myself looking for some context into which I can put the the 1939 New York World''s Fair. Does anyone know where the fair was held, geographically? I mean, in what part of New York were the fairgrounds set up?

Hi, AGBF,

It was held in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, Queens.

You can link from this page to one about the World's Fair.

This picture reminds me of glitterata's avatar but with 'futuristic' images. This style of brooch must have been 'current' in a way- I can't imagine a pin being made like this today.

In any case, I'm glad you think it's interesting too.
