It’s an option. I have a curved band with my wedding set and it drove me nuts. It always twisted and never lined up so I ended up soldering the two. I don’t mind a gap. Just concerned about wearing each other down or causing scratches.
I have this open-style spacer that prevents wear on my ER solis.
I wouldn’t be too concerned. It’s life, what’s the point if you can’t enjoy it? I say wear it and don’t worry.

They probably will but not any time soon.
Just keep an eye on them and see how much wear they cause on each other. My guess is your band will soften and not have such crisp engraving on the outer edges and you might see some scuffing on the prongs. They're nice and wide at the point where the band hits tho. If you rotate which sides sit closest, it will minimise the wear.
