Hello kind souls of Rockytalky,

I want to spend about $15k for a ring on a platinum setting. Preferably round. I was looking around Cartier/Tiffany until someone told me that's a ripoff and to ask the experts at pricescope.. so here I am.

I'd prefer a 1.5 carat stone for my girlfriend.. is the price enough for a good quality stone?

Not trolling here, or anything. Would really love someone's help. Any recommendations, things to look out for, retailers to check out, would be greatly appreciated it. Thank you so much in advance.

What kind of setting? A plain solitiare, like the classic Tiffany? Or did she have preferences like a halo or diamonds in the band?

so just doing a little searching i found these dont discount the 1.45 because it doesnt hit the 1.5 ct mark. Those are actually pretty sought after around here because you wont notice a size difference on the hand, but you definitely will in your pocketbook

an H is a perfectly fine color for an engagement ring, and a SI1 clarity that is eye clean is also fine, and will allow you to get the side you want :)

if you choose the high performance diamond, i would put it in this setting
http://highperformancediamonds.com/shop/engagement-jewelry/vatche-classic-6-prong-solitaire-2/

this is a classic tiffany repro, and many who have it say its the best repro. it should keep you at or under budget with that.

whiteflash sells that too, but if you got that setting with the stone above, it would be about 500 over :blackeye:

if youre not ok with that, they have other Vatche brand settings that are lovely and would be in budget

like this

or this

Im inlined ot puck the HPD one vs the WF one just because i think the 6 prong tiffany style setting is the "safest" route.

heres one with a little better clarity if yore concerned about clarity.

this giy makes hand forged settings they start around 2k. Its the most high end of setting designers. Im sure if you contacted him, though, and told him your 15k budget and that you wanted this stone, he could point you in a direct.

Victor will also give you a 10% discount on one of his custom settings when you buy a diamond from him. No tax if you live outside California!

Superior quality all the way!
